Why Treating Yourself Is A Wonderful Idea

I haven’t shopped much this year, thinking I already have all that I need in my efforts to downsize and live a simpler life. But, sometimes, one has to simply treat themselves to the smallest of things, to elevate the otherwise bleakest of emotions surfacing during this time of year. For that very reason, I did a bit of window shopping over the weekend, and without plan really ended up with these goodies. What have you treated yourself to recently?  {featured image source and inspiration for this post}

Lifestyle: Back Pain and Other Remedies

I’ve been dealing with the worst of back pain lately – sitting at a desk for eight hours doesn’t help either. But the pain is border line agonizing. Tylenol helps and walking seems to do the trick temporarily, there is apparently seven yoga moves that also help relieve the pain.   While efforting to Superfood my way to a healthier me – I learned about Lucuma Powder – and just figured I’d put it out there, in case, you struggle like most of us with all sorts of health issues. Animals are probably the best creatures to aid in your well-being, past the meds, and all other stimulants, I prefer the holistic method to calm and tranquility: Struggling to set your boundaries, or perhaps you feel setting them is out of your control – since being so mindful of other people’s feelings – but, take it from me, not setting them will impact your overall mental and physical health: Can social media cause depression? I’ve been considering this claim and have included a supporting article, …

Health and Beauty: Just Talks Of Hair

I’ve gone out-of-town  – across the pond – to hibernate for the holidays, and while on some sort of zen, I have decided not to make-up, nor do my hair and pretty much have been spending my days thinking, writing, doing more thinking and reading, but I hate to admit – I’m still VPN working at nights, California time. I realize since I’ve been here, that I miss my otherwise naturally curly long hair from when I was in my thirties. And just when I was about to search for the best of products to perhaps bring back my curls, this popped up. And you know when something I’m thinking about streams online, it is a hint that I need to discuss it here. For all other options – go here For a list of the best hair care products – go here

Health and Beauty: Sugar and Carbs Explained

Since Keto, I have made a conscious effort to cut down on carbs and sugar. Meaning to say, that some days, especially when I feel overwhelmed or stressed, I crave nothing but French fries and a box of chocolate. So, I attempt to alleviate the stress and talk myself out of indulging in the cravings in large quantities. What can I say, I am human and although very disciplined in how I live my life, sometimes do ‘fall of the wagon’. But just to help understand the damaging effect of sugar or carbs for those of us suffering from all sorts of issues – weight gain, bloating, digestive problems, diabetes, and/or allergies, I have listed excerpt from an article I found here. Fruits: A favorable choice over a candy bar – any day – but… if you are overweight, fruit is not your friend  Fruit should be an occasional treat, nature’s dessert, but do not count fruit, fruit juice, dried fruit or fruit pouches as equivalent to vegetables. Fruit is packed with nutrients – well, not …

Health And Beauty: How and Why

I saw children dressed in pressed school uniforms, carrying new backpacks, and wearing trendy shoes, on the commuter train yesterday, and immediately looked at the calendar app on my i-Phone. I can’t believe – back to school season – is upon us. Which is a wonderful and crazy thing – compounding to the already chaotic city life with kids blending throughout, starting school. And so I remained on my phone throughout the ride, in an effort to tune out the yell-talking across the train, the kicking and shoving, horsing around, and all things that remind us that being youthful is simply a part of life. Here’s what I tagged to share today: There is a list of five books that is said to change your life – if you are looking for ways to improve or realign yourself. Thirteen Things 1. Thirteen Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do by Amy Morin How To Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie How Will You Measure Your Life by Clayton M. Food: No Carb, No Sugar Avocado Smoothie

I’ve been on this plan since April 2nd and I have to say, I am proud of myself for not falling off the wagon. Meaning, ordering chili fries and beer, or the need to munch through a large bag of skittles just because it is forbidden on this healthy eating plan. I can actually look at rice, or potatoes just to name a few, or sit through a meal with friends eating starchy foods and be okay.  So I guess my body has adjusted – hopefully well into the rest of the year. This morning, after eating two eggs in scramble, or boiled, every morning past, I decided to try this smoothie, even though I had a tough time thinking avocado to be a tasty option in smoothies – but it was fine and a great alternative to the usual eggs and bacon option. Ingredients 1/2 avocado (3-4 oz) 3/4 cup full – fat coconut milk (from a can) 1/4 cup almond milk 1 tsp fresh grated ginger (about 1/2 inch piece) 1/2 tsp turmeric 1 tsp lemon or lime juice (or more to taste) 1 cup crushed ice …

Health & Beauty: This and That

So many articles, so little time, I say about all that is offered up to better yourself, your appearance and even your outlook on life. I welcome them all and take from each suggestion whatever suits me. Or that I feel is obtainable. I don’t put too much pressure on myself to look more than I do. I prefer natural in all things makeup and hair color. Clothes I don’t go overboard – my closet, full of staple pieces and fashion that can be carried on throughout a few years, mixing and matching and creating my own simple style. I love how fashion has evolved now that we can actually wear flats to accentuate and feel sexy. Clothes have become more comfortable and consciously designed for the women on the go. I’ll elaborate more as time goes on – but for now, here’s my latest finds:

Healthy and Beauty: Yoga Right About Now

Parts of the weekend didnt’ turn out how I expected – with my stress level elevating to highs so out-of-control that my body simply shut down. This is of course stress upon stress of every-day life and  some not-so-normal  nonsense. I realized after taking a step back and deep breaths, that I needed to re-start my yoga classes – without coming up with a dozen or more excuses that I need to be elsewhere first taking care of anyone else but myself. So the first thing I did, was add a weekly reoccurring calendar reminder for Fridays at eleven in the morning for me to simply disconnect from my life,  and go do yoga, followed by deep meditation. And naturally the internet sensing my needs, added a site for amazing yoga retreats to consider, to keep the momentum going.  Here are the ones I am seriously considering: Located in Bali, Blooming Lotus Yoga Retreat is set in an island paradise. The retreat offers daily Vinyasa Flow classes, suitable for all levels, each morning. There are …
