blog under construction – maybe

I don’t usually post on the weekends, but lately I’ve been thinking to revamp my blog. It’s not that I don’t like the one I currently have, but change is always good and I am a huge fan of change. So stand by for a couple of days while I toss up the idea of taking the leap.

san francisco weekend social calendar – june 29 to july 1

I have decided to include a new entry on my blog called San Francisco Weekend Social Calendar.  The purpose of this entry is to loop you in on what I recommend  to do over the weekend in San Francisco. Tourists are welcome of course. So for this weekend, being June 29 thru July 1, I recommend the following  {click on photo for details}: Friday, June 29, 2012 – AT&T Park For The Garlic Festival. Need I say more, Garlic, The Giants, good times 🙂 Saturday, June 30, 2012 – Private Garden Dinner for 10 at Regazza. This is a special offer which in my opinion is amazing if you have a group of friends on a budget (or not) Sunday, July 30,2012 – Eurocup Final Italy vs Spain (Go Italy!!!) at Lalola Bar De Tapas . Whether you are a fan of soccer (a.k.a. football) or not doesn’t matter. It’s a fun filled experience for sure.

pizza with potato and blue cheese or greek cheese – you pick

I love pizza and although I watch everything I eat, I do occasionally cheat by going to my favorite pizza place here, in San Francisco and order a slice of their pesto, red skin potato and whole garlic pizza.  It is truly delicious. Lately I have been on a mission to recreate some of my favorite eats at home, so I found a recipe here somewhat similar  to my favorite pizza. The only problem is I hate blue cheese, so I used Greek cheese instead.  Now if I could only learn to  eat just one slice, then I will be  just fine. For the pizza dough: 4 cups (560g) bread flour 2 teaspoons sea salt 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast (see Notes) 1 1/2 cup (375ml) water, at room temperature For the topping: 2 medium onions, peeled 1 pound (450g) small, firm potatoes, such as Yukon golds or fingerling 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme, plus a handful of thyme branches 6 to 8 ounces (170g-225g) blue cheese Garlic oil: 1 clove garlic, minced 2 tablespoons olive oil Additional ingredients you’ll need: …

interior or exterior design: doors with a statement

There are many components to a home which, like fashion, either make or break (in this case), the flow. And although I appreciate interior decor as much as the next person, I also admire interior or (in this case) also exterior design: Doors. As a result of my passion, I have taken over a thousand photos of doors during my travels and here in San Francisco and when I come across one I admire in a magazine or the internet, I click and save it. :). Here are some of my favorite doors

escape from the fog – a summer in san francisco

Well officially, perhaps a day earlier than some calendars indicate, we have entered the Summer season. I know this because yesterday it was freezing, foggy and drizzly in the city and today it isn’t any better.  So while I bring out my sweaters, coat and umbrella to the front of my closet for use throughout this season, I cannot help but think of anywhere that I could lay on the beach and soak up the sun. {click on the photo to get travel information to any of the destinations below}

fashion sense: tory burch pairing

The first time I was drawn to Tory Burch was because of the logo. What can I say, it happens, I mean wasn’t that the case for the Apple?  But then over the years and mostly in Europe, I have fallen in love with her fashion sense and style. So, naturally I found a few dresses for the summer here and paired it up with dress up and dress down shoes option from here and here to express my own interpretation of versatility.

boutique hotel pick – hotel brunelleschi – florence, italy

Every city around the world has it’s own unique charm appeal and although most travellers may agree Paris is probably the most charming and romantic,  parts of Italy are right up there on the list.  Florence, is of course, one of the cities in Italy I frequent and find to be a great romantic getaway.  So, in case you are contemplating an escape to Florence (a.k.a. Firenze), I recommend Hotel Brunelleschi for your stay.
