Lifestyles We Share

I think we can all agree and some may disagree that we have lots in common during this pandemic lockdown/half-lockdown/possible opening/maybe closing/much reservation in the season ahead – that we have found new ways to keep busy or distracted. In my case, updating the house, swooning over travel destinations, cooking, watching movies on various apps, and tapping into my artistic side – oh and don’t forget walking, lots of walking (which I used to do anyway) I’ve never been a fan of the gym. So this Thursday, while juggling a bathroom renovation, painting the kitchen cabinets to a lighter color – grayish-blue, and updating the bedroom, I am mostly focused on home renovations and what I am taking from each one: What’s got you distracted, or busy these days?

Decor: Home Is Where We Are

Although many states, or countries are lifting the shelter in place to boost moral, moods and the economy, I am still considering staying more at home, and focusing on projects around the house which will certainly boost moods or moral if done as suggested in these topics of decor interest on this Wednesday. {featured images and article full credit}

Lifestyle: Upscale Sports Bar and A Downton Abbey Movie Sequel

Surely you can see that I’ve got my priorities this morning, but only because I keep putting off all the crazy list of to-do’s and the worrying about this and that.  Sometimes we simply need to distract, and today’s distractions are… The French usually—in my generation, anyway—didn’t think it was a good idea to make your children the number one priority. That meant you have left behind your license as a wife, as a woman, as a professional and all this. It felt not fashionable. But now I think things have changed tremendously in France. In America I think there’s a lot of positive encouragement, even to the point of making the child believe that he’s a genius. (source) On another note, have you seen Kate and Leopold? I did when it first came out in 2001, and at the time, being so young, believed in fairy tales as if my life depended on it. Watching it years later, I think I have to say, oh my, how my thinking has changed…what’s your take on …

Decor: Fresh and Clean

I laughed when I decided on the title of this post  – fresh and clean – something I overhead someone telling her baby after giving her a bath. So, in honor of the statement, I share some fresh and clean, and airy decor ideas for your home renovation project or just a bit of sprucing up: {Source}

Decor: With Happiness In Mind

I never appreciated my home as much as I have since January, after our company’s office move, where we are cooped up for 8+ hours each day without natural light, or air. I apologize for playing this broken record, but I swear I don’t know how people do it. The environment has taken a toll on me. In light of this anxiety I am faced with daily, I realize there are others who feel the same way and would probably appreciate the idea of decorating with happiness  in mind.

Decor: Simply Chic For Those Craving Coastal Living

My home decor is very earthy and peaceful. I live near the coast in San Francisco so my aim was to embrace the weather in the city, foggy mornings, with a touch of sun peaking through, all blended across the skies and reflected against the changing hues of the Pacific Ocean, some greenery inserted along the avenues, and mountains to the right establish the prefect of parameters.  I don’t imagine trading my view for much of anything else. I feel boxed in when venturing inland, because the coast gives me infinite tranquility I so need to calm all the anxiety I feel on a daily basis. Coming home from a long day of whatever else, is the best feeling, especially on a clear day, where each sunset is determined by the mood of Mother Nature. When I saw this simple decor, I had to share – because, really, who needs anything more?

Decor: Chanel’s New Flagship Store – Manhattan

In light of the fact, a few department stores are either closing down or renovating and reinventing themselves here in northern California to remain key players in this day and age of online shopping, I have to applaud Chanel’s newly designed flagship store in Manhattan. The very idea of a modern chic decor approach, which others are following, is a sure way to captivate passersby:

Decor: San Francisco Gem In The Marina

I adore fine architecture and design and often times walk through different neighborhoods in the city to see what all the renovations are about. You know incorporating the new among the Edwardian and Victorian homes perched along the hillside – in this case near and around the Marina district. Here’s one of my favorite home with streamlined design and decor    Home Tour Video https://players.brightcove.net/5699924528001/default_default/index.html?videoId=ref:60ad810f-ed97-4c59-837f-c24484f13848

Decor: Cotswold Family Manor

Here’s the thing. While I was fortunate enough to be chauffeured through the English countryside by a wonderful friend of mine last year and this one, to explore every nook and cranny of England, I couldn’t help but wonder what the interior of the homes looked like. I know some remained true to their traditional style, but I was also certain, some of the homes were remodeled beyond my imagination or hers, for you see, we were discussing decor throughout our adventures naturally. So, when I stumbled upon this article, I needed to share it: How the interior of a 16th Century Manor in the Cotswolds is tastefully transformed to include 21st century  amenities/conveniences.

Decor: Floating House Tour

I live near the water in San Francisco, but have always wondered what it’s like to live on the water. I think this interest was sparked by the film Sleepless in Seattle, where Tom Hanks’s character lived in a boathouse on the water with his son. Since then I’ve always imagined, if not a lifetime, but perhaps a few months living in – say – like this wonderful floating house in Seattle. Wine-cellar included of course:
