Health & Beauty: What’s Good To Know

I took two Tylenol before heading out to a company belated ‘holiday party’ over the weekend, aiming to ward off any physical pains I was feeling because of my backache. And without much thinking, I ordered a glass of wine, during the cocktail hour. Then one more during dinner and by the end of the night, one more, totaling three glasses of wine. I usually pace myself at these events because, as we all know – moderation is key to success in any company function. By the time I got home, I felt light-headed and extremely dizzy – so did my date. That night I couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning and feeling an unexplainable high (not drunk), and of course I got online->Facebook at three in the morning hoping to distract myself, and this article popped up. I really hate the fact the internet knows me so well – sending my way article after article about all things that I should know about: More articles of interest – the meaning of a good friend and …

Health & Beauty: Core Exercises Without the Gym

I endured the worst backache recently – the pain so severe, it zinged down to my knees, and my entire body felt as if out of proportion.  Not sure what I was suffering from, a cold, a virus, a pinched nerve and by the time I could see a doctor, it sort of – well  almost – went away.  So on Sunday I went for a long walk, for the first time in a while, and I remembered a woman I was buying fruit from at a farmer’s market in Florence, told me walking is the best medicine to cure most ailments. And she was right – the walk helped and I feel like finally I am on track to recovery. Of course the internet sensed my latest issues, and sent this article my way  – 6 Best Core strengthening Exercises to do at home and I like the idea that they only take 10 minutes: 1. Bridge The bridge exercise strengthens the whole abdominal region, the lower back and the glutes. 2. Straight Leg …

Health & Beauty: Healthy Blood Pressure

It used to be health concerns were only for those over a certain age, but not anymore – health issues are hot topics for anyone at any age. I found out recently a person who is in her 30’s has to worry about high blood pressure and just the other day, a co-worker was rushed to the emergency over high blood pressure. Which got me thinking of finding solutions to maintain a healthy blood pressure in the most natural way possible. I’m not a doctor, but I am optimistic that watching what you eat plays a major role in your health. So if certain foods can help keep the blood pressure down, than by all means, I will abide.

Lifestyle: Healthy Food Swaps For A Better You

Well this year started out not so well in terms of watching what I eat or intake actually. Because although I watch what I eat no matter at home or out, I have to now watch which food pairings work best for me or my metabolism to function properly And no this is not really age related. It’s more how a person’s body works since we know being overweight is something many folks struggle with. I’ve learned in the last year or so that, even if you diet, you may not lose the weight you hope because it comes down to individual metabolism and/or digestive processing. So if a diet works for one person, it may not do so well for another. I always go back to researching how I can eat healthy, and eat the right foods, not only to lose or maintain my weight, but also feel healthy in the belly.  There are many places that can help individuals obtain their goals, and  then there are the self-help sites online that can help …

Health And Beauty: Super Healthy Smoothies

I have a severe weakness for smoothies and do my best to veer from the pop-up smoothy places all about the city for fear of getting myself in a sugar-overload addiction. But, once in a while, I want to indulge – at home mostly – being super careful with the combination of fruits and veggies to swirl/pulse together to create a smoothy that suits my health quirks. Another but – if you have nothing to worry about and love smoothies as much as I do – then here’s a site that offers up 20 variations to try: And this is the one I can actually feel good about trying: 1 banana, sliced ¾ c (6 oz) vanilla yogurt (I will switch it up with almond milk – no yogurt for me) 1 Tbsp honey ½ tsp freshly grated ginger

Health and Beauty: Looking Natural

I appreciate trends in makeup but I hardly veer from my simple application techniques – because I always strive to look the most natural. Recently I have a to-go power I use on the weekends over a simple hydrating, SPF face cream, and that’s it. On weekdays I apply the mascara and blush and a light lip gloss and I am ready for my day. But in case, you are curious or interested in different approaches to the regiment or daily routine – then here’s some interesting insight on the subject matter: {featured image source}

The Latest on Health and Beauty

Being open to ideas or suggestions is a good thing – and if not – it’s a fun thing to do – to learn more about self care. I always love re-inventing myself even if I often choose simplicity in my approach, I do make efforts to add a new style or a method here and there to shake up things a bit or even to humor myself. 🙂 So, here we go – first topic  of discussion is – the list of best anti-aging oils giving you insight on how to proceed with care when it comes to your skin or face, or wrinkles This look is exactly what I’ve been searching for – or actually what am I say – I have been supporting for years – dressing up jeans with a fancy blouse and a solid pair of flats – here’s what they say The 90’s, not my favorite in terms of fashion, trend is making a comeback – how do you vote? Sunday Morning Reads 100817

I felt the chill of Autumn this morning – after leaving my window wide open overnight – since the 70 degree temps from the evening before. Something we experience here in San Francisco in October. Even though it was cold, it felt wonderful to breathe in the clean early morning air, and opening my eyes to the moon glistening over the Pacific. Soon enough with a cup of tea in hand, I came across these cool articles to share: Food: First breakfast or brunch idea – pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes: Decor: Old World Parisian Decor meets modern according to Dwell Online     Travel: 12 Museums in Paris not to miss especially when you plan a trip in late Fall And How Long A Vacation Should Be:   Lifestyle: If you long to work from home – here’s a list of companies that are hiring to do just that. Healthy and Beauty: Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Recently, or as I see myself aging, I search for ways to stop or slow down the process. First consideration is always trying to maintain as peaceful a life as possible, with minimal stress and maximum time to breathe in and out, and a good night sleep. In addition to the simple steps that my grandparents had in the past practiced, even through the toughest of times, I discovered the benefits of apple cider vinegar. The reason I am acting like I discovered it – is because I was in a store once, and while in the health food section, noticed a bottle of the ‘potion’ if you will and quickly googled it. Sure enough, there were a few details about all the benefits one can achieve by using or consuming ACV. At first I couldn’t imagine drinking anything labeled vinegar, but after the first few sips, I got used to it. The claim, if you search online is that: So, I’ve been drinking ACV for a few days now and in 30 I’ll have …

Healthy and Beauty – Skin Serum

I have been doing a lot of research lately for the best serum to apply to my skin – in hopes I can preserve the outer layer of my being, just as much as I am doing everything to take care of mind and body. Here’s what I’ve tried so far, and because I am the only person staring at myself in the mirror every day, I cannot for the life of me determine if what I’ve been using so far has worked. For all I know, it’s been doing what it is supposed to because thankfully I’m always told I don’t look my age (whatever that means 🙂 Anyway, here’s what I’ve tried so far for years:  Lancombe, Clinique, Oil of Olay   Here’s what I am contemplating giving a try since from what I have been told and read by facial experts, switching up care products is always a good idea since our skin type changes over time:     I would love to hear your take on any of the serums’s mentioned …
