Tuesday Five Things Which Have Me Thinking

I’ve been working on a final edit for my third novel, which is long overdue to being released to the world. 🙂 But, in all fairness, I allowed life to get in the way of maintaining a schedule. Instead choosing to put on a shelf my novel, in order to free up time to handle the most pressing of issues that continued to sneak up and shuffle the norm. So that’s today’s thought. So, this morning, while thumbing through my phone at the doctor’s office waiting to see a specialist, I found myself pleasantly distracted by:

Lifestyle: What Your Body Is Telling You

Breakfast is to be eaten in a relaxed state of being – suggests this plan I am trying out recently to ward off some health issues that have popped up recently.  But I wonder how that is possible when there are a million and one things in life that keep us from being less uptight or stressed even while consuming our meals. The funny story here is that  this morning, I parked my car in Golden Gate park after a doctor’s appointment to eat the so-suggested calm breakfast before the start to my hectic day – and attempted to listen to French music on my Pandora to help set the mood. But of course, my phone had no service, no matter how many times I turned it off and on, and then there were the street cleaning trucks grinding almost as they crawled by across the street blowing debris in any direction but suctioning inside their vacuum-truck.  Or am I off my rocker to think the trucks actually have vacuum-like suctions underneath.  So basically even …

Food: Dinner Tonight – Chicken Salad

The recipe is titled Crispy Buffalo Ranch Chicken salad with Goddess dressing – and being that I am a goddess 🙂 I had to see what the ingredients are all about. I do love Buffalo Ranch chicken salad to start with and order the option at any given U.S. restaurant if they are wise enough to offer it on their menu. So, the only difference is this recipe calls for the goddess dressing: INGREDIENTS 1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cutlets, or tenders 1/2 cup buffalo sauce, homemade or store-bought 1 cup Panko bread crumbs 1 tablespoon each dried chives and dried parsley 2 teaspoons dried dill 1 teaspoon each garlic and onion powder 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, more or less to taste 1 pinch each kosher salt and black pepper SALAD 2 heads romaine lettuce, shredded 4 carrots, shredded 4 celery stalks, chopped 2 Persian cucumbers, chopped 4 radishes thinly, sliced 1/2 cup fresh cilantro or parsley, roughly chopped 1 avocado, sliced 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese or feta cheese GODDESS DRESSING 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 cup fresh cilantro 1/2 cup fresh basil 1 jalapeño, halved and seeded juice from 1 lemon  {more}  On another topic, recently an event I planned a few …

Monday Beautiful Things

I’ve been having to juggle a few unexpected things which have recently come into my life and until I can get a good handle on it, or a rhythm, I must unfortunately streamline my most favorite distractions, to stay focused and in tuned. Until then, all I can think about are beautiful things to get me through… {featured image source}

Lifestyle: Wedding Or A Great Milestone Venue

I went all out for the party on Saturday – with the most and the best of decor. Not bragging, just stating how much I enjoyed planning and executing the event. Since then, I’ve been fixed on more party planning,  and have already received a few phone calls to help organize a small wedding venue from the caterer, who I thought was kidding when she said she knew how to get a hold of me if need be. And naturally, the internet reads my mind and sends my way, topics geared towards whatever it is I am obsessing about – like this gorgeous wedding venue.   Also, would you consider wearing a colorful gown for your wedding?

We Might Enjoy The Same Things…

Since the 4th of July holiday in the U.S. – this is by far the longest weekend since Thanksgiving. Meaning some companies in the U.S. were generous enough to offer up the day after the holidays as a holiday+ – extending to the weekend.  Retail isn’t so lucky, or maybe they are, depending on how we look at it – this is going to be one of the biggest sales weekend and the deals are amazing, take a look here  But as usual, those of us San Francisco locals who decided to spend the holiday at home, have the heater on, and covered in blankets know we won’t be getting a glimpse of the fireworks, thanks to the usual fog covering most of the bay. Decor And Finally… Happy weekend everyone! {featured image source – do you recall seeing in GOT?}

Thinking Global In Topics

Not everyone celebrates July 4th – sometimes not even the Americans, so I figured I’d share topics for everyone who continues to  join in on all the fun at Raw Silk and Saffron. But before I do, I have to say, I have no specific plans to partake in the holiday this year, but I am hopeful that at the very least the fog will stay at bay in San Francisco, just enough to enjoy the fireworks around the Golden Gate bridge which I am fortunate enough to see if I walk down a few blocks from my house.  And maybe, I’ll grill a steak and have some corn on the cob and  watermelon 🙂 – okay I’ll wear red-white-and-blue too. Anyway, lets proceed to the more interesting topics – speaking of grilled steak…

Summer Swimsuits and Sunscreens and Oh That Hat

Summer is in full swing – and I am planning a getaway for a few days, to celebrate, or better yet to reflect upon a few upcoming challenges, and how to best proceed. I do this a lot, where I need a week or so to simply disconnect from the day to day and regroup myself.  I am looking forward to the next six months, but for now a couple of days in the country is much needed. But even the getaway doesn’t exclude some anxiety and stress. Such as in my case, I am highly allergic to mosquito bites and tend to get very sick, which sucks for someone who loves the outdoors. So I stocked up on all sorts of ways to protect myself, even buying and hauling a mosquito repellent candle. Besides that, my next anxiety is the usual one for most women who are very conscious about their body when it comes to swimsuits. The fit, the look, the style, and most of all the comfort.  I recall once when wearing …
