TV Show Recommend

What are you watching on television these days? I normally list a handful of film recommends here for consideration or my recommendation. But The Chair requires a post of its own. Best show I stumbled upon on Netflix two nights ago was The Chair. And sadly with only six episodes (for season 1 – here’s to hoping for more) the series managed to deliver a wonderfully written story based around so many modern day topics. With a great cast, and perfect storytelling, we are introduced to… Single-mother attempting to do it all on her own for an adopted child who naturally hates her. Empty-nester syndrome. University life not so much based around the students (yet) but more of the faculty challenges in keeping up with the times. Power struggles as always in any story. There’s Color issues, gender issues and much more introduced in every 30-minute episode. I could not ask for a better distraction right about now. Thank you Amanda Peet! Can’t wait for season 2 (hopefully) {featured image source here}

Comfort Zone

How do you manage being out of your comfort zone? This is something I am struggling with recently. I mean I love a good challenge at work, but sometimes, when dealing with issues falling into the grayish zone, it is very challenging…to make the ‘right call’. Naturally working remotely doesn’t help. Or does it? I mean at least, no one can see you panicking if you don’t have your camera turned on. Normally, I take a day or two to ponder over a situation and do some research to come up with the best solution or one with minimal risk attached to it. But even then I am up at night after the decision is put in place, second guessing myself. So here’s my list of questions to you How do build the confidence level to go past your comfort? Is fear of failing stopping you from making decisions? Are you a risk taker who is good with dealing with the consequences later?

Lazy Sunday Vibe

I love the idea of lazy Sundays. Although life hardly allows for such a wonderful concept with all the errands and other responsibilities taking up too much time in our lives. But still, there is no harm in imaging being lounged on a recline, on a terrace overlooking a body of water somewhere along the coastal villages in Greece or Italy or on a hammock in a tropical destination, just to name a few. Because just maybe…the universe is paying attention…

What’s On Our Minds Lately

As I stood in front of the cashier at Trader Joe’s (national chain grocery store) yesterday waiting for him to scan my groceries, he asked how my day was going. I was used to the question. It is one all of the friendly TJ cashiers ask. I told him it was fine. He then noticed the bouquet of flowers in my cart, and asked if they were for me or a gift for someone else. I told him it was a little of both. Some for my home-office desk (a ritual I started when we were only allowed to shop for essentials), and the rest for my mother. He then asked what line of work I was in. I told him. And he told me he was laid off last year, but was glad to be working again. One topic led to the next, and somehow we ended up exchanging opinions about the toll the pandemic has had on society and the eagerness to get back to ‘whatever normal was’. He asked if I was …

As The Reality Show Unfolds…

The world watches what appears to be a hit television reality show in America – where during these modern times, we continue to be ill prepared…unless there are notions of smoke and mirrors. Which by day 5 or 6 – I can’t keep count anymore – it is becoming more apparent, that something isn’t the way it should really be. What concerns me the most is that I asked a dozen or more individuals if they would rather see a sheep in wolves clothing, or a wolf in sheep’s clothing as the future leader of this country, and the unanimous answer without hesitation was – ‘hate both, but I rather by led by the one in sheep’s clothing’. Which gives you perspective. I do worry though, once the final-not-so-final-legal-not-so-legal-made-up-not-made-up-bought votes are counted, and recounted, behind closed doors, through glass doors, and everything in between (for years in the works) leaning towards the wolf in sheep’s clothing, what this country will be like, when in a few months, the ‘newly elected man of power, as scripted, …

Stay Calm America

For the past four years, Americans and the entire world have watched, and listened to uncensored opinion, comments, and display of anger and frustration, and hard-core divide towards the current President of the country. And now the time has come to see if the voices are heard, and if the undisclosed reform some are longing for will prevail over the transparency in recent years, which by the way, this country is not accustomed to standing. All I ask is that we remain calm, no matter the outcome, and rise above in a dignified manner…and stop the hate that has been the driving force behind the ugliest divide this country has seen in modern times. Embrace your friends, your family and have faith that everything happens for a reason…no matter how badly you want it your way. {featured image source and full credit}

Visual Therapy This November Morning

Last night, I said goodnight to the full moon, and set my clock back and turned in. This morning, I woke up to a new month, a new time, and watched the same glistening moon against the graceful skies, slowly lapsing into another time zone. I felt sad for some strange reason. I normally feel this way at the beginning of November, knowing there is just two months to the end of a year – and what a year it has been. Not the best I must admit, but we can only hope that the future is brighter, for as long as we do our part to live peacefully, in a dignified fashion. That is the key… So for today, I want to share what I call visual therapy – in hopes to contain the amount of anxiety looming across the globe: Featured image source is the ideal life I imagine for myself

Sunday Hello

I decided before I dive into work this morning, that I’d play catch up here with all of you. Hello, how are you doing? Hope well enough considering this year and all of its very heightened, or highlighted challenges. But we are in middle of October, even though it feels as though we have no idea how we got here. But we did. There’s lots to talk about. There is exciting news about travel – in that some parts of the world are starting to open up – one in particular that grabbed my attention was Machu Picchu and the misinformation surrounding its closure during early COVID and now. The other misinformation naturally swirls around our country’s upcoming election and the bullying and manipulating from ALL parties on either side of the playground. Now although this sort of dirty play has been done decades before, none has stood out as much as this year’s election. That is because the masses are on lockdown, and have nowhere to go but their televisions sets to endure the …

Absence May Grow The Heart Fonder

In an optimistic world, one wakes up on a Monday morning looking ahead to a balanced week – some work, some play, a lot of home cooking and enjoying many films, preferably foreign or filmed on location somewhere one might be longing to travel to. But, that isn’t always the case, because the universe usually has something different in store – especially when you least expect it. Last week, too many things reshaped my days, and I felt overwhelmed until I slowly regrouped and began figuring out a rhythm to follow.  Do you ever feel that way? When your life goes out of whack and you are left with figuring out a new way to adapt. Haha! What am I talking about – this year we’ve all had to figure out a new lifestyle. The sad thing about obstacles in life is that the first thing it does is suck the creativity out of you and hence the most creative of things become the most difficult to attain. So while I continue to readjust my …
