A Funny Thing Happened While Waiting for the Train

Billboard advertisement still exists in most train stations – I suppose because those of us waiting to embark, have ample time to see the ad, and sometimes during delays and such, even glance at it enough times to remember the product or the message, sending you to click buy or react emoji via the luxury of your smart phone. A few days ago, I noticed, even fixated on a number of billboard ads by Lufthansa while waiting for my commuter train to screech to a stop at Montgomery Street station in San Francisco.  Since the announcement overhead stated the norm these days for our ultra-busy city, (delays upon delays), I decided to pace the platform and read every single billboard, eventually jotting down all the questions posed by the airline aiming to entice potential travelers or those longing to plan a trip-somewhere, in this case, destinations where Lufthansa flies.  And then of course, I decided to answer the questions-out loud-right here: Is somewhere else always the right place?  It can be  – when one is …

Monday Morning Recap

Happy Monday everyone! I don’t know about you, but I feel refreshed and ready to tackle whatever this week has in store er…well I mean, some things I have planned as well. I have started to workout again and it feels amazing – because – instead of the gym and the same old routine, I have decided to go about my working out in the most conventional way: Walking, tennis, swimming and even shooting hoops/ pretend basketball. I didn’t realize what was lacking in my drive to workout until I started doing more of it outdoors. I also finished reading this book, with high hopes of getting some insight. When I called the public library to extend borrowing the book for a few extra days, just to give me the chance to revisit some of the chapters, I was told that was ‘not possible’. As the book was in high demand – 37 people were waiting to read it; the librarian added. I suppose the book perfectly titled had done its job of directing folks …

Monday Morning Thoughts

Most people dread Monday mornings – for having to go to work, or school or other obligations they seem to not want to deal with. But, I am a strange bird, in that, I welcome Mondays – believe it or not – at this stage in my life, I love getting ready for work, and tackling the day.   I feel on Mondays, I have full control of how my day will go after a weekend of playing catch up mostly on chores, and commitments to show up to this and that, willingly or not so much by choice, so by Sunday night, I am too charged up somehow to wind down. The best of Monday is my early morning commute  to downtown, and the opportunity to reflect upon all that I experienced over the weekend, and how it impacted me – positively or in a negative way and what I was able to take from it all: Attended my first gender reveal party, which really blew my mind of how interesting the concept was ->all …

Lifestyle: Four Day Workweek to Gender-Neutral Parenting

Sunday morning, although time is flying by in a blink of an eye, is one of my favorite days of the week. Where I can simply stay in bed and read, with my favorite companion curled up next to me, or get up and have a cup of coffee, while pondering life in a good way and sharing topics of interest with all of you. That’s what Sundays are for – at least for me.   {featured image source}

Lifestyle: Anxiety Defined

I’ve been a little on edge lately. It happens and I know it. But this round, I can’t figure out if there is actually a way to help myself not feel so wound up about even the smallest of issues.  I mean I try my best to rationalize, and adjust my lifestyle and dance around all the stress which lead to my anxiety, but sometimes it’s hard and everything does have a limit. So, if you find yourself feeling a bit anxious recently about this or that – you know the thing called YOUR LIFE, then for that reason, I have included a few helpful topics to consider. Just in case, like me, you are considering a few much-needed changes. And finally, what do you think – is this a true statement?

The Thing About Mothers and Daughters

The older I get, the more I understand where my mother is coming from – when doing and saying the things that she did and does. Although I raise my eyebrow on occasion, okay, okay, on more than one occasion, I realize after a heated discussion or a disagreement that she is mostly or absolutely right in her assessment or observation or prediction of all things pertaining to my well-being. Some of you may not agree – and that’s fine. But I think my conclusion is that, it also depends on the type of relationship one has with her mother. In my case, I am very close to her and do tell her everything, and even when her first reaction is to be very critical, she means well, and this is something I perfected over the years – our efforts to have clear and open communication. This is what I have to say and here is what they say:

How Do We Measure True Love?

We all do this. When in a relationship, we question commitment when it comes to the matters of the heart. Mostly wondering if we are loved just as we’ve read in novels, or seen in movies and learned of fairy tales  about happily ever after. But on this Valentine season, I ask, past all the fantasy, how do we measure true love? And here’s what I found. According to the book The Seven Laws Of Love – these are the terms:   According to a psychologist  – these are the five things that will help you fall in love or lead you to love  And then there are these helpful reminders: The simple facts are – love should be: When someone truly loves you, they will make “face time” a priority. There’s no substitute for it. There’s no volume of text messages or emails that can equate to the moments you spend looking a loved one in the eyes. Simply put, when we love someone, we will make it a priority to be near them. …
