Sidewalk Cafe Scene

Do you miss it? Or have you been able to hang out in your favorite cafe for a while now? I suppose that depends on which part of the world you pin yourself. Then again, I suppose restaurants offering outdoor meal seating has sort of been the new cafe scene here in the states. I just hope they don’t get rid of them once it is very safe, or safer than today, to eat indoors. But I do miss it – sidewalk cafes in Paris, Rome, and other small towns and villages around the globe with mismatched tables and chairs, colorful uniformity and all variations of a place where you can simply sit and soak up the day while people watching. What is your favorite outdoor cafe scene?

Travel: Places to Imagine

Slowly and more and more I am seeing friends and acquaintances on social media post images of their travels – naturally after being vaccinated. Which of course has me feeling a mixed of emotions. Are we truly ready to travel? Is safety truly a priority – or will remain a priority around the world since vaccination? How do I maneuver my own city with more and more tourists flocking to San Francisco, mostly without masks? Are they vaccinated, asymptomatic, or… Always the or? Funny I saw a commercial on television the other day and thought, why do we doubt so much? And should we just live and breathe and simply hope for the best? What will it all look like in the coming months? One thing I know for sure, social media is gearing us up to think about travel. What are you thoughts about travel? Too soon? Not soon enough? Simply Missing Travel

Normally at the start of every year, I dot my travel plans on the calendar, which always includes a trip to Europe. Somewhere new and somewhere I’ve been before combined together to create an itinerary, usually for the fall. This year, still with all the uncertainties, I have been privately thinking about a trip across the country, in an RV, and exploring some of these recommendations, which apparently are reminders of Europe. As we settle into the idea of 2021 simply being an extension of 2020 – in terms of careful consideration of how to manage through the pandemic: work, school, travel, and socializing – I realize that I need to bring back the travel series. Visual Therapy This November Morning

Last night, I said goodnight to the full moon, and set my clock back and turned in. This morning, I woke up to a new month, a new time, and watched the same glistening moon against the graceful skies, slowly lapsing into another time zone. I felt sad for some strange reason. I normally feel this way at the beginning of November, knowing there is just two months to the end of a year – and what a year it has been. Not the best I must admit, but we can only hope that the future is brighter, for as long as we do our part to live peacefully, in a dignified fashion. Weekend Wrap and This Dessert

Normally we venture out of the city on day trips to satisfy our wanderlust. But as most of you know, we are battling fires all around northern California, which seems to be the norm in recent years, except this one adds to the already sad state of our new lifestyle. So, Saturday we did some chores, and ran errands, mostly shopping for essentials – to be out but to stay indoors if you will – and in the evening had cocktails and watched silly and surely entertaining films here and here. On Sunday we took a chance, venturing across the Golden Gate, and staying close by, in Sausalito to explore and yet be ready if need be to return home and be indoors. So, we walked as usual up the steep hills, and through the narrow streets, with me wanting to capture photographs of the smoke filled air mixed with the picturesque small town of Sausalito. The color contrast to my eye was the most fascinating.   We decided this weekend, not to ponder over …
