Travel: Past the High Season

Enjoy your eclipse sighting – if you happen to be the fortunate few who can actually see it. Now, pas the eclipse sighting, I also realize most everyone is pre-occupied with back-to-school or sending their kids off to college or first days of pre-school. But the great part of this season, past the sentimental parents, is travel. This is the time I add the final touches to my usual September or October travels to Europe. So, if you happen to be not so busy with anything else, you might enjoy these travel topics:

Travel: Exploring Paris Past The Eiffel Tower

There are many sides to Paris I adore and what I love most is discovering something new every time I go there – which is at least once a year. For example: {featured image is copyright rawsilkandsaffron and one I took on March 12, 2017 celebrating a friend’s birthday}

Travel: All About The Canary Islands, Spain

Right about now, while freezing in San Francisco, I crave tropical. And naturally begin  my typical research for somewhere to escape. Recently, well, maybe a month or so ago, I saw a film   on Netflix that was not only entertaining and funny, but it was  filmed in the Canary Islands.  Somewhere I’d never been before. I love when a movie delights me – in terms of decor and location.  The last time I was this intrigued was when I saw ONLY YOU with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. which was filmed in when it was filmed all throughout Italy. Anyway, so because of the film, I did some digging for tourist information and without any more babbling, here are some facts – just in case you are looking for that perfect Honeymoon or anniversary celebration destination:   High Season (Dec–Apr & Jul–Aug) Coincides with Christmas, carnival season and Easter Accommodation prices are highest in January and February Mid-summer is holiday time on the Spanish mainland, so expect more tourists July and August are the …

Travel: Where To Go In September

I always plan my travels for September – because I feel it is a great month to experience the best of weather, the least of crowds, and the locals not as stressed with tourists as they are during the summer. With that said, here and here are two lists of some of the best places to travel in September: {featured image: Barcelona, Spain}

Travel: Interesting Finds Online – Vol 16

I love the idea of being humored, or entertained, or caught of guard with information about this or that. You know what I mean?  Like when you are searching for something relevant and stumble upon something not so relevant and then you find yourself just appreciating the details or laughing about it, or even considering what is being proposed – like these:

Travel: The Colorful Storefronts of Paris

I actually smiled from ear to ear when I saw this beauty of an article because, in March, when I did my annual Euro-trip, with 3 days in Paris, my travel partner and I stood across the street from a restaurant (featured image above), deciding whether we should have lunch there or not, and while contemplating, a handsome man who obviously either owned the place or managed it, stood within the doorway and waved, either flirting or encouraging us to go inside. Laughing, or giggling like school girls, we decided to pass. I think the pressure of him taking our order would have made us spend too much 🙂 – Now that I think about it, we should have taken him up on his offer to simply sit  at curbside, and just be. So, this article, about the colorful storefronts of Paris is actually so very true. I do stop and go inside any store that is creatively decorated on the outside, luring me in – in my case, admiring the artist and the owner …

Travel: All About Asia

I’ve never been. Although I’ve thought about it every year – a trip to Asia (if you must know) Thailand, Singapore and Japan mostly, but I am not too keen on vaccines, long-haul flights and a certain level of struggle here and there trying to adapt or immerse.  You call me spoiled. I call myself a chicken****. Anyway, in case you have the same fears of travelling to places that require a lot of planning and precautions, then consider this interesting podcast to put your mind at ease – since the best time to go to these destinations is coming up soon:
