Travel: Travel West, You Might Just Love It

When travelling through Europe, I often strike up a conversation with others either on the trains, or in restaurants, I want to know where people are from and where it is they have traveled. The interesting part of all this, is that the moment someone finds out I am from San Francisco, they tend to say just how much they love America – New York, Miami – which isn’t all of America, but a part of the country considered most ideal for tourists coming from Europe and beyond.  But I am here to tell you there is more – much more to see west of the Mississippi – Louisiana, Montana, Arizona and naturally the west coast.

Well, as usual or expected the heavy or dense fog is back in San Francisco and the kick off to the normal summer has begun, where the locals dress in winter clothes and the tourists show up in shorts and summer attire and hardly a jacket. So, while vegging out on Sunday at home, reading, then preparing meals for the week, I naturally thumbed through my phone here and there and found these topics interesting enough to share. Travel: Things You Might Want To Know Vol 17

There is ample information about a destination when planning a trip – whether first time or the fifteenth, the volume of articles is extensive. However, on occasion, I prefer to focus and share on background travel details to, hopefully, help bring the world closer, and more relatable. On another note – have you seen this Hulu television series from George Clooney – based on Joseph Heller’s classic novel. Gotta admit, it start out slow, but I am hooked.

You know, I think I’ll just let the photos do the talking – because if you are planning a trip to Italy in the Summer, plan with coastal towns in mind – as Rome, Florence and inner cities are always too hot and too crowded. And yes, so are the beaches, but the subtle breeze and the cooling effect of the water makes an Italian vacation the most memorable. Decor: Weekend Hibernation And Spring Cleaning

This weekend, since we were destined for a storm, with heavy rains and thunder, I decided to tackle closet Spring cleaning, where I pulled everything out and created piles of toss, keep, maybe and what I call – keepsakes for another five years until I am ready to let go of those pieces.  I stayed away from social media, just rolled up my sleeves and dove in. Part of the chore felt like Christmas, where I found myself looking forward to opening plastic bins and boxes and discovering all of the contents – particularly perfume samples, and a collection of postcards from all of the places I’ve been. Even tickets to a play in London, and dinner at the Eiffel Tower – everything taking me back to wonderful memories. As you might imagine, those things went into the keepsake pile. What I did different this year, is order bins from here to help create a sense of uniformity in the closets and easy access for those things when needed are seldom found.  But what I failed …

Travel: Luxury Camping

Considering I live in bear country (California), I stay away from camping – in a tent or in locations where those furry beasts could easily tear down walls and doors to get to the jar of honey I felt necessary to bring to a campground.  Gruesome I know – sorry.
