Lifestyle: No Carb, No Sugar Plan

April fools day, I began a lifestyle change – in terms of eating better. Meaning, I don’t want to diet, or order a meal plan to follow. I simply decided to cut out carbs and sugar as much as possible from my daily meals. I have to tell you, it is day 9 and I feel pretty determined to go on, even when I am craving sugar like nobody’s business.  I also want to report that I’ve been a little grouchy, call it having withdrawals, but I know in the long run this is going to help me. At least I hope in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Last night I was craving a fat dessert, and opted to drink two bottles of water instead. Which helped. But today, I decided to make a list of desserts that are good to keep in mind  – for the just in case.

Lifestyle: How Do You Handle Pressure?

Just when I think the dust is settling on a few glitches in life, another set of issues have come up, where I am under pressure to make a decision either this way or that. What’s funny is, those who know me enough, wonder how it is I manage to remain so cool and collected while juggling what life is dishing out. Little do they know that on the inside, I am in turmoil, like everyone else, over the choices or the decisions I am making and whether they are the right ones.  Especially when I get the gut feeling either way I decide, it isn’t really going to be the best.  This time however, I decided to go online and see if there is anything helpful or can validate what I believe to be the best of the decisions. Or perhaps help me in making sure I understand there is no right or wrong in a decision, only what I am hoping is the right one at the time I am deciding. And so …

Lifestyle: The Need for A Career Change

Whatever the reason, all of us, at some point or another in our lives felt/feel the need for a career change. Sometimes voluntary and other times by force. The difficulty is being able to put yourself out there with a resume that will grab the attention of a recruiter past the algorithm set to weed out – believe it or not – boring resumes and those with the least qualifications. I say boring because there is a set list of words an employer is looking for to even consider glancing over your resume, or skill set and if your CV is not vocabulary savvy, then your resume is tossed into the cyber-trash.  Sorry to be so blunt – but I’ve learned a thing or two over the years while speaking with many recruiters and human resource personnel and feel the need to pass on the information. So to start off, this topic is an article plus illustrations about the best skills you would need to include in your resume to help get you started: And a …

Sunday Edition: Enlightening Ourselves

I do love rain, even though this year, we’ve only just begun it seems, our full-on rainy season. Meaning that in January we had a month long sunshine and unseasonably HOT weather and then since the middle of February, weekly prediction of rain, and more rain – confusing all things blooming and the birds 🙂 So I’ve set aside a list of indoor activities to tackle, but not before I’ve had a chance to share some interesting reads online. {photo source} {photo source} {source for featured image}

Lifestyle: Movie Night and Wine

Saturday night has become the official movie night in our household. Where we prep all fun snacks and buy a couple of bottles of wine and get comfy in our favorite spot on the sofa, with a dog in tow, and watch two films, we’ve either seen before or for the first time.  Here’s the beauty of movie night – there is so many ways to see films and shows now, that I don’t need to direct you to any particular streaming site, you know what you need to do. The only thing I am going to say is that – you can actually show up in your pajamas and messy hair and no one will care. So, here’s a list of films I do recommend just in case you are either on the fence about them or feel they are not your favorite genre, or even that they are on your radar. But here is the list:

Hobbies to Consider – SkillShare

I am always looking for a new hobby – to add to the ones that have become more of a habit of late and even a routine. So I figured if I consider a few courses in this and that, I can tap into a skill that’s been gone untapped. Or maybe even learn something new. Here’s what’s trending on Skillshare:

Sunday Edition: Depression From Work

Depression comes in many forms and we all know that. But I think the most avoidable is the one we experience at work/from work. Whether too much of it, unrealistic expectations from a boss, or the pressure of fitting in, or liking all the changes taking shape, which could potentially put you out of a job. I believe no one should endure job-related stress – unless of course it is a personal run business. Then that is a choice you have made going into it. If a job makes you feel less than you are, then consider another. If a career no longer fits your style, look elsewhere. Find your happiness, is all I say, or find a way to make your workplace a happy one. Believe me I’ve done it both ways. Left a job that made me feel the worst of me, and altered the one that put me in a happy place. And the reason this topic came to mind, is because, a few good friends of mine are experiencing and dealing …
