Interesting Finds From Around the World

This week has been a bit off, thinking today is Wednesday, when it is really Thursday. Not to mention the fact, the days are getting shorter and in San Francisco too gloomy for this time of the year. But, we strive on, and shift our focus on the positive or fun facts to keep us going throughout the day and well into the weekend and for that, I am aiming to divert your attention to some interesting finds from around the world: Recently I’ve started to watch Workin’ Moms on Netflis – have you seen the show? {featured image source}

Afraid They Just Might Find Out?

My entire life, I walk this earth, displaying a strong persona – someone who can handle most anything and everything, as long as I am able to trouble-shoot and handle all that comes my way. This has been my motto, and my advise to everyone in my life. Recently though, I’ve struggled with keeping up appearances, in that I am beginning to feel overwhelmed with all of the responsibilities and what is expected of me from members of my family. The funny thing is, everyone always apologizes for adding to my already stressful life, but yet, it still happens, and I am right there to help, even at the expense of my exhaustion. Just so you have a clear understanding…usually around this time of the year, in between end of summer to the beginning of fall, I often feel out of whack, and end up doing and saying things not usually the norm for me-not sure why that is, but I wonder if you have experienced such mood changes during this time of the year? …

Thursday Thoughts Or…

I apologize for the sporadic posts lately, but I’ve been travelling, working, and doing what most humans do to the point where you realize, it’s another day and another one.  But while on a plane lodged between a window seat and aisle – barely having enough room to breath, with my knees pressed against the reclined chair in front, I managed to smile or be taken aback by these…and wonder if you feel the same? {source here and here}

Lifestyle: Figuring Out If You Are Happy

Feeling philosophical lately – so please bear with me. In the American Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson incorporated a statement borrowed from Locke’s pursuit of happiness and made it people”s inalienable right: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  This is what the American dream is based upon and those entering this great land do so welcoming the  ideology. But does happiness really matter? In a series of new studies led by psychologist Iris Mauss, the more value people placed on happiness, the less happy they became. This was part of the sermon on Sunday, something I have questioned for a while now – is happiness truly something we need to aim for and measure our entire existence upon to achieving ‘whatever we consider to be happiness.’  Or is content the right way of thinking? The Father speaking to his congregation attempted to explain that happiness should not be something we search for but rather, finding contentment by seeing all the good in our lives, should lead to a tranquil and peaceful existence and that should …

Some Thoughts For The Weekend

This week flew by quickly, I guess because my calendar was packed with some positives which left me feeling more accomplished than stressed over what I didn’t get done. I love it when that happens, and I wish I can make that happen every week. In fact, that is the plan – to acknowledge my accomplishments so that I can feel less anxious. To-do lists help, just in case you are wondering. But even still, there are lots that go through my mind on a constant basis, and some topics are worth a mention here to see if you wish to share you opinion on any of them. For instance… In listening to a boss berate an employee the other day at the office, I couldn’t help but feel the need to hand him a how-do book or refer him to a website which might help his style or approach. In case you are curious, read on What would you do if you ran into an ex that meant the world to you – but …

Lifestyle: We Do Feel Unmotivated Sometimes

I tend to stick to a daily ritual in order to stay motivated. This has been the case for a while now –  because I realized since my days consist of  dealing with too many unmotivated individuals who have an excuse not to work on self-improvement or perhaps simply cannot, I needed to do my best not to be that way.  But, once in a blue moon or a silvery one 🙂 I feel uninspired, and perhaps a bit unmotivated,  mostly at the end of summer and the beginning of Fall. Which I’m sure you feel the same way too, at some point in a week, a month, or a year, and need direction, or advise, from online or books to help you through whatever is making you feel this way.  For that, I am sharing  my picks for books that may inspire…from a list of 12 suggestions, which you can find here:

Travel: Cornwall, England Did Not Disappoint

I fell in-love with Cornwall in May 2018, after carefully spending a month before planning a trip there. The thing about Cornwall is that it is best experienced driving and since I have family living in England, this option was a simple matter of getting them to take me around in a car, the incentive, an all-expense paid week long holiday. You see, I am not yet confident in driving on the other side of the road in England – being an American and all. But after the six plus hours it took us to get to a destination which normally – or on American roads – take about two hours for a 200 mile drive, in this case from near London – Cornwall did not disappoint. Sadly, the destination is a place I know I need to discover again, in great detail – because normally the first trip anywhere is just touching up on the surface of things and only staying in touristy areas. Next time it will be beaches and more breaches…where the …
