Food: The Benefits of Turmeric

Ancient spices have been a part of my family life for generations. I know this because all of our recipes were/are handed down from my great grandmother, to my grandmother, aunts and to my mother, and I have to say I am doing my best to incorporate what I’ve learned  into even  healthier versions of their take on our traditional meals.  So, I was excited to find this recipe with Turmeric roasted carrot soup. There are many benefits to turmeric – which I often drink in tea form, and sprinkle over broth soup and even eggs. Here’s a list

Online Finds For the Always Curious

I laughed when I came up with today’s post title since I’m always accused of being too curious In my opinion, one is never too curious if they want to feel alive. Anyway, while doing research for my next novel, I came across a few perhaps trivial topics and figured I’d share it with all of you. Just in case you are stuck indoors due to the weather.

Take Note – How To Survive The Winter

I do live in San Francisco, and some days in the winter it dips below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I know this all sounds funny for those of you struggling with worst weather conditions. But any cold or dreary weather does take its toll on anyone anywhere. So…this article caught my eye the other day and I thought why not share some of the suggestions offered -that I love – on how to survive the frigid winter season:

It’s All Up To Us…

I was fortunate enough to disappear from the US for about three weeks in October. And I say that only because I knew the emotional state I was in required for me to step away from all that is going on here – first hand, in terms of the impending election. Never mind the police shootings, clowns, and all other natural and unnatural disasters plaguing our nation. The time I spent in Europe was enough to help me compartmentalized all things causing the worst stress I have experience  in my entire lifetime.  I had a heavy workload on top of it all through the summer – covering for co-workers moving across the globe and such. I was doing fine, until I read a New York Times article someone sent me via Facebook titled Donald Trump Voters Just Hear Me Out – detailing the million and one reasons why we need to vote NOT for Trump. You see I’ve been keeping my opinions about the matter to myself and perhaps that is the reason I haven’t really …

Decor: Sidetracked to Decor

I don’t just travel to see the world. I travel to see how the rest of mankind decorates. 🙂 Yes I did just come up with this bit. But only to lead into how much of my travels is spent  on analyzing, appreciating and taking from the beautiful decor choices created around the globe. Here’s a glimpse of what I am talking about designed by a handful of decorators:

Travel: Past The Season

I love traveling off-season, and have been planning my trips abroad around the crazy madness of summer travel.  Where instead of relaxing and enjoying yourself on vacation, you are more stressed out by the overwhelming crowds, packed restaurants, museums and whatnot. To me that’s not vacation. So if you happen to be those considering a trip right about now somewhere – say Europe – and thrive on too-much-good-information of sorts, then…. {Greece photo credit}

Decor: Some Decorating Ideas To Consider

While I was away, my handyman brother replaced the fan in my bathroom. Not something blog worthy I suppose, but it set the tone for me to finally pencil in the much desired renovation I want to do to my amazing studio with views of ocean beach, in San Francisco. I’ve been on the fence about it, since on some days I don’t want to bother with the hassle of it all. You know, having to move out of the room to get the remodel  done. But when I see the amazing array of decorating tips, I get inspired. So….third week of July it is, when I will begin my much-anticipated  renovation project. In the meantime, here are my latest inspirations:

Been Away Much Too Long

I took a week away from everything to regroup. Well, actually to watch my good friend’s dogs while she went on vacation. I decided while placed out in the country, to take a break from all things writing, and online whatever we do day in and day out to pass the time. Before she left on her trip, she told me how badly she wanted to revamp her office space, and so I took it upon myself to give her the surprise of doing just that. The remainder of the time, I played with her beautiful doggies, made-from-scratch dinners, organized her book collection in alphabetical order, experienced Game of Thrones withdrawals, and simply vegged out, avoiding, as I stated earlier, everything online. You know what? Although it felt great to be away from it all,  living a much simpler life for a few days, I missed my blog and my writings so much that here I am  sharing with you some ideas for the 1) 4th of July celebrations,. 2)what is the one thing I …

A Scene From A Movie – Saturday Brunch

A very dear friend of mine made a surprise visit on Saturday. Meaning she drove into the city, and called me to ask if I wanted to meet her for lunch after her hair appointment. Naturally, I set aside my writing, and jumped into the shower, got dressed, and drove across town to the Marina to meet her. The weather was unbelievably gorgeous for a usually foggy near summer’s day in San Francisco, and when that happens to the city, everyone makes a conscious effort to be outdoors, hence the crazy traffic taking nearly an hour to get across town. I endured thanks to my Pandora station, and after twenty minutes of searching for parking, finally walked into the salon, where we were to meet, seconds before she finished settling her bill. She asked where I wanted to eat, and since I had just passed by a newly  remodeled or revamped restaurant on my way to the salon from where I parked my car, I suggested we give it a try.  Both of us laughing …

How My Brain Works

I wear many hats past being a blogger: I am an author, an event planner, software dev quality expert,  avid traveller, photographer fashion consultant, and a supporter of healthy eating and healthy lifestyle.  Not to forget mentioning,  film buff. Oh, and I do love the San Francisco Giants. Because of all that, my brain goes something like this:   {source}
