San Francisco: A Penthouse Worth Talking About

I see this view every day from my office, and have taken many photos of the best sunrise on this side of town. See the ballpark in the background? Yup, that’s my Giants ballpark. Anyway, I’ve stared at this view for over five years, not once knowing that people actually live there, and that there is a story to their story, and now their penthouse is up for sale. Wish I could put in an offer on the 8.5 million price tag 🙂  Check out the story here.

Decor: Gray Is Never Dull If You Know How To Dress It Up

Every color is fascinating to me, no matter how dull some may seem to most. The key is knowing how to dress it up. In this case, the color gray, a more elegant, sophisticated hue for those preferring such luxury or gracefulness in their lifestyle – of course after the kids have  left home, and there is no dog, or a dog that is well trained not to sit on such refinement. 🙂

Decor: Office Space or Cool Design Ideas

Still on my quest to revamp my wonderful tiny living space.  I just need to figure out what month I should embark on such a task, considering all of April  is booked. Most of May – gone. June – not looking good either. And July – September the weather is s*** – foggy – in my neighborhood to the point it is too cold to open windows to allow the paint and such to dry while renovating. So, it looks like September it is, our Indian Summer here in San Francisco. Which as you know is just around the corner. Naturally, the though of renovating also means, creating a Pinterest board, as well as (in my case) a desktop folder with all photos of what I envision our place to look like. Lately, I am loving black-framed windows and doors, turquoise and marble and natural hardwood flooring. Kind of like: I think I am just about narrowing it down – until of course something else catches my eye in the next five months. 🙂

Lifestyle: Small Living Spaces…A New Trend?

Six years ago, my hubs and I sold our 5-bedroom two-story in the suburbs and moved back to San Francisco, into a small studio with views of the ocean. In the beginning it was very difficult for us to get used the open-concept space we used for living, dining, and sleeping in. The worst was we worked different shifts. So while I slept he had to wake up and get ready – at 2 in the morning, and while he went to bed at 7p, I was up, and in need of watching television or doing something around the room which required movement. Eventually we got used it, and six years later, have very minimal issues with such a tight space. Lately, I’ve been watching Tiny Living Spaces on HGTV, where families give up their homes to live in small spaces, hopeful the concept would improve their quality of life, or  lifestyle. I can honestly say that if you have the right attitude and mind-set, the downsize has its benefits for sure. Two particular ones …

Art: Selfie Sketch After A Busy Weekend

On Sunday I needed to simply unwind after the busy Friday evening holiday party I hosted/coordinated for 200 guests. The venue Sir Francis Drake – San Francisco. The party was very successful, and the entire evening I was asked to partake in selfies. Which I am not a fan of since I don’t consider myself very photogenic, nor  an expert in taking successful selfies. Anyway, on Saturday it was the same selfie nightmare.  I went for my Super Bowl host training program at the Masonic Center Nob Hill  and one of the exercises was taking a selfie and posting the picture on the Superbowl50 site, as well as hashtag-ing it on Facebook. I did neither for the same reasons. On Sunday, after household chores and grocery shopping, I decided to play with the  new toys I received for Christmas. An entire artists attache (case) from Restoration Hardware, plus a box of crayons, and coloring pencils, watercolors and sketch pads -I suppose someone wants me to reconnect with a hobby I had years ago  – drawing. So …

Travel: Visual Break – Cities That Do Christmas Best

I figured we all need a mental break, from stressing over what to get the loved ones. It’s funny, I got out of the house yesterday even though  I said I wouldn’t, and roamed the malls, Stanford Shopping Mall to be exact. And there I people watched, trying to figure out the choice of their gifts. I loved the perfume counter, men hovering over the perfume, and selecting something from the list their significant others provided them. And then there was Banana Republic, luring customers to buy a piece of clothing at 50pct off, but only one item, the rest would be 40pct off. Interesting marketing.  Williams-Sonoma was my favorite, the best holiday gift – a Nespresso Machine at a deep discount of 30pct – I hadn’t seen such a price anywhere else. I needed a visual break – and what better way then to think travel-Conde Nest Traveler 14 cities that do the best Christmas.  I don’t know if the list is complete, but for now it will do.  And I really think they …

Design Decor: Interesting Finds About San Francisco

My city has come a long way, evolving into a prestige metropolis, well planned out over the past twenty-plus years and still going strong, integrating many improvements and modern architecture, while preserving some of the city’s historical elements. I love it. Spending days walking downtown studying the progress, snapping too many photographs of the past and the future to chronicle bygones-I’ve seen done in so many photographer’s coffee-table books. My favorite one shelved at my dentist’s office 🙂 If you are anything like me, you might appreciate the following tidbits about San Francisco, and maybe plan your travels to witness some of the upcoming changes. {To read about the SF street improvements click here}
