Beautiful Things In Travel
Friday could not have come fast enough this week. I don’t know if I was done with January or… just about anything else that makes us all ache for the weekend. When we can simply unwind (hopefully) and not always be accountable for the demands of a work week. Although, for some sort of balance, I did watch many episodes of Rick Steve’s Europe travels from years past. And naturally I felt the most beautiful things I wanted to share this week, was all about places I have been in Europe. Take care.
Tuesday Topics of Interest
We’ve had Spring-like weather in San Francisco for a couple of weeks now, and although I wish it would rain more, I am happy with the chance that I can enjoy the bright sunny days. So although the plan this morning is to attend one meeting after another, I wanted to share some interesting topics I came across. Just in case you are bundled up at home aching for a distraction or two or three. 😉 Have you see 11.22.63 on Hulu? A suspense thriller based on Stephen King’s novel about the assassination of JFK. Although since it is based on events which actually happened in American and even world history, I found it most interesting to get a glimpse of what would have happened if time travel allowed us to go back in time and ‘fix’ a problem or two. In Paris…Or France?
I’ve been doing much virtual traveling lately. Whether by binge watching a television series, or a movie filmed on location or travel shows. I have to say I truly miss travelling. So while watching Emily in Paris – season 2, I couldn’t help but wonder, if I were to take a trip right now, would I spend the entire time in Paris or forgo one of the most romantic cities in the world and instead travel throughout France. To revisit the wonderful places (listed below) I have been. In the following order, via French Rail. Strasbourg, Colmar, Dijon, Lyon, French Rivera, Marsielle-Aix-en-Provence, Toulon, Nimes, Montpellier, Biarritz, Bordeaux region, Nantes, Rennes, Rouen-Normandy, Orleans, Paris-one night Colmar French Rivera Bordeaux Marsielle French Rivera Nantes- Mont St Michel Monaco Paris – always the last stop on my journey How about you?
Virtual Travel To Ireland
Do you select a film to watch based on location? Let me clarify. I understand selecting a movie to watch is normally based upon genre, actors as well as the story line. But do you ever search for films based on location? I do and last night it was all about Ireland. You see, I haven’t been to Ireland and it is one destination that I put on my list of destinations to visit in 2020. And we know what happened to the world as we once knew it. So until I feel safe enough to travel, films on location will simply have to do. Finding You – based on a novel by Jenny B Jones is certainly worth seeing for a virtual tour of some of the most beautiful countryside in Ireland. I found myself swooning over the breathtaking scenery and the small towns along the way. Travel: Destinations in Film
I’ve seen different folks going in and out of the neighbor’s house across the street for the past month or so. And right away I realized they are Airbnb-ing (hosting) their property. It’s not that I am stalking, but while parking my car, or doing landscape maintenance, I see different folks in and out, taxis and Ubers pulling up. A call is made in the driveway and definitely a code is shared and next thing you know, the garage door opens and these different individuals, men mostly, go inside. Days later a maid service comes in to clean up and then the family of 6 return home. Which gets me thinking, where do they go for those days while a stranger is in their home? I mean the children are of school age, all under ten going to a physical school instead of online? How does this family juggle such a lifestyle? So I decided to do a search on Airbnb and discovered there are countless homes around my block alone that host vacationers or …

Friday Interesting Finds
Sharing contents on a blog has become quite challenging these days in terms of seeing an interesting topic somewhere else and wanting to share in the joy here without copyright infringement nightmares. So I’ve been debating on shifting gears here at RS&S to bring to you the rawest of materials…but then I think. Don’t we have enough of that already? I mean the world is a different place since the pandemic and even the slightest difference in opinion is no longer tolerated the way it was once. So I keep treading gently here and there and so the topics of discussion are now far and too few. I do have to tell you though. Where Do You Miss The Most?
While plugging away at work, perched on a semi-comfortable office chair in my remote work space at home, my mind occasionally wanders off to very specific corners of the world where I suppose my subconscious wants to be instead… Dean Village – Edinburgh, Scotland. I stumbled upon this timeless spot a mile or so from the bustling downtown area of Edinburgh. I thought I was dreaming…it was so beautifully preserved. Bougainvillea adorned white washed pathways on Santorini Island, Greece A stroll along the French Riviera This… Switzerland… all of it I can spend days walking across the greenest of pastures I’ve ever seen Where do you miss the most?
