Lifestyle: What Not To Say At Work

I know, it’s Monday morning and you have the blues. Well, I’m here to tell you to snap out of it, and instead look forward to your day. Except this time, taking a new approach to being who you are at work so that your day and even week can flow nicely. Here’s the changes to consider: 1. If someone asks you how your weekend was? Stop yourself from telling them how hungover you are. Stop yourself from telling them about the one-night stand or any part of your sex life or lack thereof. Don’t discuss your marriage or divorce. or Brag about your upcoming wedding/planning. Instead Discuss an event or something fun that happened in your city How much you love the (insert season here) The results of a (insert your favorite sports team) game. A new restaurant you discovered or a show you saw 2. In a Meeting or at your desk or someone else’s work space Don’t bad mouth your boss. Don’t bad mouth your co-workers Don’t disclose-  how much you hated …

Friday Movie Night Debate and The Weekend

Every week, or Monday actually, I check the list of films being released over the week-end and decide whether it’s nachos and champagne and Nutella covered fresh strawberries, and streaming a movie or at home, or an actual going out to the movie theater night, with popcorn, a large Cola Icee and a box of chocolate covered raisins.  🙂   the better alternative. Just to give you an idea, last Friday night I decided on going out to see the American Assassin. I  appreciated the film so much that I had nothing but good things to say about it here.  Tonight, I am contemplating seeing the second installation of Kingsman: The Golden Circle,  Or a repeat viewing of the film Man Up on Netflix.   In case you are leaning more towards a night at home, curled up on the sofa, with no idea what to watch, here’s some suggestions of films I’ve seen in the past that are now streaming on Netflix Man Up Clouds of Sils Maria Sing Street Following Midnight Paris Hot …

Why Some Things I Adore

Occasionally I get a little nostalgic about the silliest things. Like a place I’d been, the people I’ve spent time with, my childhood, their childhood, first day of school, last day of school and then the day my family decided to immigrate. Even a simple picnic on the beaches of the French Riviera has me longing. Especially more, when I come across beautiful photographs like these: You get the picture of what I mean. So if you are up to it. I’d love to hear what makes you nostalgic. {featured image source}

Visual Therapy – That’s All

What is it about greenery or flower and fauna that puts a smile on our faces? This beautiful collection of greenhouses from around the world couldn’t have come at a better time for me – and I hope for you – to ward off the end-to-summer blues I’m feeling right about now. Greenhouses are the nearest thing to holding on to summer days, even in the worst of weathers outdoor. I remember a trip to Montreal a few years back, in the middle of dead-winter, I visited a local greenhouse and was taken away by the beautiful collection of greens and colorful plants and flowers, a contradiction to the freezing all-white scenery outside. It was pure therapy, visual and mental.

Lifestyle: Self Love

I’ve been discussing the topic of self-love or not-so-much with a few close friends of mine recently – and although after the talks, I feel a little better about things, sooner than later, I fall back into the bad habits I’ve developed like most who are hard on ourselves. You know the kind where you don’t think you’ve reached your full potential or that you are spending too much time taking care of others and not so much yourself, or simply the guilty feelings when you fail at something you’ve set out to do, or even giving up. I think what I wonder most is, how some people know exactly how to talk themselves out of those destructive behaviors while others don’t. And then I wonder if those who preach – are they truly as together as they come across. When I am out in the world, or simply my neck of the world, I observe others naturally, to figure out why the (worried, distant, tired, disappointed, or sad) expression plastered across their faces and …

A Great Distraction – The iPhone 8

I am one of those waiting for the iPhone 8 – not because of the bells and whistles it is rumored to have but because the current phone I have is the 4s. You may laugh but it has been the best phone ever, from design to the ability to function in mint condition for several years. I hate parting with my phone, but under the circumstances, mainly the enhancements my lovely 4s can no longer handle, I need to evolve as well and just get a new phone to function at the speed of light (if you will) in today’s fast paced life we’ve not-so-willingly have fallen into. So, with less than a week-ish to the announcement and the ability to order, and then stand in long lines at the store to pick up said phone, I share with you rumor-or-not, some interesting details about the iPhone 8, and wonder if it is worth the small fortune – meaning to say, if I should just opt for the 7. What say you? ***and here’s …
