On this first day of winter, which happens to also be my parent’s wedding anniversary, how cool is that – to be married in winter. All I want to do is focus on beautiful things: {source here, and here}

I strive to better myself in every way possible, but on occasion feel as though I am failing. This is a blessing and a curse – because I am very hard on myself and always push the envelope in achieving much more than expected, which is a curse. And yet, I feel my best when I am able to achieve the goals I have set for myself and flourish in the best way possible – blessing? Recently though I’ve been questioning every ounce of who I am, which I think most of us do, at the end to each year, and then assess what we need to work on. In my case, much more than I though of at first, and I am not talking about losing weight, or changing up my wardrobe, I am talking about inner self, personality, character, and everything else that define me as a being. It’s weird how that works – because without any prior research, I picked up two books which I am reading simultaneously solely based on the …
Every season I normally feel the need to switch up my decor, even if it means changing my throw pillow covers, and adding a few trinkets throughout the home, the need to feel the seasons indoor is in full force – especially Autumn…I mean how can anyone resists? And there is always the fall wreath collection to consider from here Ideas from Target – one of my favorite, and I am sure one of your favorite stores to walk into to buy one thing and end up with a dozen or more things you may or may not need, and doing everything in your power to hide that receipt from your hubs. 🙂
This morning while commuting to work, bits of the film The Holiday came to mind. Particularly the English cottage where one side of the story took place. Followed by the eclectic decor of course, and then how wonderful the connection between Cameron Diaz and Jude Law’s characters were, sparkly eyes, and bright smiles, make the perfect holiday film, don’t you think? Add Cameron’s/her character’s fashion sense, and basically it is a well rounded and my favorite modern holiday film I happen to watch every year. So you can imagine me wanting to share these beauties, and my desire to simply hibernate for the entire month of December or maybe trade places with someone itching to hang out in San Francisco. Any takers? So, here are my questions? Have you seen the film The Holiday? Which side of the story do you relate to? If you had the chance to trade places, what part of the world would you consider? Is the fact, we are near completing the first week of November freaking you out? I’m …
I asked my mother what she wanted me to make for dinner tonight and she said chicken soup – but not the boring one – which I get of course. I don’t like boring, but I had no idea she didn’t either. So chicken soup it is, even with our fluctuating very hot, to mild to weird cold and still hot weather. We’ll just have to wait for the sun to go down to thoroughly enjoy a cold-weather meal otherwise known as comfort food. Just a note I won’t be using a slow cooker as suggested. I prefer hovering over a pot with a wooden spoon in hand, watching my creation taking shape. INGREDIENTS 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 1/2 cups dry wild rice blend 6 carrots, chopped 3 stalks celery, chopped 2 medium shallots, chopped 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme or 2 teaspoons dried 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage or 1 teaspoon dried 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 2 cups fresh baby spinach or kale 2 …
I was in Hawaii last week, and was amazed at how seriously Halloween is taken there. I don’t know what I was thinking – on a romantic tropical island, for Halloween preparation to trump over most everything pleasantly surprised me. So, we must prep here on the mainland and across the world for this growing and very popular holiday by sharing some interesting topics. {featured image source and inspiration for this post}
I’ve purchased a journal – which prompts with questions to write your way to self-discovery. At the time I thought it was a great idea to invest in a paper bound diary of sorts until I realized the questions border line those you answer in an online job application. Where you are asked to troubleshoot a problem, or explain your weaknesses or strengths and some trick questions embedded in there to determine your state of mind or psychoanalyze your way of thinking. So I wonder if this blank journal with questions for headers is truly meant to help in my self-discovery. Then again, do I really need to discover any more about myself at this point in my life? I thought about it long and hard last night, while up staring at the television screen set at the Hallmark channel, reading lips as I had the volume on mute and finally, at four in the morning, decided to play along. Meaning share with you a few of the questions on occasion with my answers, not …
I haven’t added some of my favorite boutique hotel recommendations for that special weekend or week long getaway until I spend a good amount of time laughing in the pool this past week with a funny couple who decided to get hitched as they called it, and blend their families together with six pre-teen kids. They were celebrating their one year of bliss (can you see my jaw dropped or my eye twitching while trying to understand their definition of bliss?). They joked about kids, and exes, and the new blended family and I simple threw my head back and laughed while tears streamed down my face-that’s how funny they were about the whole thing. I suppose that in itself is a definition of bliss or love. All I can say is – more power to them. So, in case you are aching for a weekend getaway where you want to feel regal in all sorts of pampering, then this beautiful hotel is just the right accommodation to set the mood or just help you …
I didn’t realize it was Friday today, until I needed to do a task for work that was slotted for Friday reporting. How time flies. We are mid-October and the holiday season is much closer than we are probably ready for. But today is for a few interesting topics I want to share – to help get you through your Friday and into a hopefully fun and exciting weekend:
The first day of the month, and only 90 days to the end of the year. But no worries, October is a month I look forward to, especially after the sluggishness and the unmotivated I felt by the end of August, and all throughout September. To me, October is the month to shed all the negative and just enjoy the most brilliant of colors, the layering in fashion, the shift in decor, comfort food in recipes, and the prelude to the holiday planning. October is the coolest month of the year. What Film to see, what recipe book to buy, and where to vacation in October
