Travel: 50 Things To Put On Your Bucket List

In terms of Europe that is – because if you include the rest of the world and things to do – the list might just be unobtainable in one’s lifetime – unless you drop everything and just go. Hmmm – not a bad idea 🙂 So here they are in the order of where I’ve been and highly recommend, and what’s on my list of to-do’s and the rest is here: Where I’ve been and highly recommend: Where I am planning to see in the coming year and beyond:

Travel: Quick Getaways No Matter Where You Are In the World

My friends who live in the UK have decided to go to Italy for a few days, over the Thanksgiving holiday. I found this news amusing, only because while we, in the continental U.S. plan for family get-together across the country for Thanksgiving, she and her husband plan to do a weekend getaway. And then I realized, all the Americans living abroad, or calling a part of the world their temporary home, whether for work or school or just because, there are wonderful opportunities to plan a quick getaway and see…

My First EATALY Visit was…

The craze for the newly opened EATALY in Los Angeles caused such a stir they had to close it for the day to reassess how best to proceed. Which makes for even more demand to go and see the location on Santa Monica Boulevard and experience the concept of all sorts of eateries under one roof.  Something that’s been long done  in Seattle, Montreal, Lisbon, and Rome – naturally these are all the locations I’ve had the pleasure to visit and experience probably one of the best of food and spirit.  The concept is also in the San Francisco Ferry Building, and the EATALY style opened years ago, is in the Twitter building on Market Street and 9th if you want to check it out while you are in town.  The funny thing is once you eat there, or make a date with friends to meet up  for drinks and amazing foods, you literally become a repeat customer. Have you been to EATALY in New York, or LA or something similar elsewhere you wish to …

Travel: Best Countries to Visit 2017 and 2018

I couldn’t resist comparing these lists – when it comes to suggestions offered up by various  travel sites about where to travel next. In 2017 – Conde Nast Traveler suggested these destinations: Canada American Mid-West Cuba Bermuda Athens Scotland Scandinavian Countries (Norway, Finland, Sweden) Portugal Croatia Jerusalem New Zealand Tokyo Zimbabwe Rawanda Buenos Aires Chilean Patagonia Uruguay In 2018 – These are the countries recommended by Lonely Planet Chili South Korea Portugal Djibouti New Zealand Malta Georgia in the Caucasus Mauritius China South Africa Where are you planning to travel in 2018?

Travel: America Made

I enjoy tourists – especially the ones that arrive in San Francisco in October – because they are well-travelled enough to know October and early November is the ideal time to visit the city. The ones that make the trip across any body of water tend to plan an entire trip across the country. And then there are the locals who consider a weeks long trip to somewhere USA. For that here’s what I offer up:

Travel: Scottish Lodging for the Winter Traveler

There is a list of lodge recommends from here that might be worth your while if you are planning a trip to this beautiful country during the winter months. Consider the following: Log Cabins in Skye Ness Castle Lodges, Inverness Cameron Lodge, Loch Lomond Loch Lomond Waterfront Lodge, Balmaha Piper Dam near Dundee for Hagmanay festivities Braes Lodge, Aberfeldy Taymouth Marina, Kenmore The quiz of the day: If you have fallen inlove with Edinburgh like I have then take this quiz to see which neighborhood you fit in. I got Marchmont/Morningside – not complainin’ I’m good with that.

Travel: Best Breakfast in San Francisco Past the Tourist Trap

San Francisco is an easy city to explore on foot, or a bus, or Uber or any means to get past all the tourist areas and the best way to plan it, is to start out with breakfast to some of my favorite and tested spots  in my city and the rest of the list of many others I plan to explore eventually:

Travel: Is Still A Good Idea

This year I switch my travels abroad to March instead of the usual October trip I take every year, and believe me I regret that decision. But only because it is now October, and my brain is programmed for Europe. Now since most of my friends are smartly taking their holidays or vacations for a two-week trip to my favorite part of the world, I figured I’d share a few helpful things, just in case you are itching to take a trip.
