As The Reality Show Unfolds…

The world watches what appears to be a hit television reality show in America – where during these modern times, we continue to be ill prepared…unless there are notions of smoke and mirrors. Which by day 5 or 6 – I can’t keep count anymore – it is becoming more apparent, that something isn’t the way it should really be. What concerns me the most is that I asked a dozen or more individuals if they would rather see a sheep in wolves clothing, or a wolf in sheep’s clothing as the future leader of this country, and the unanimous answer without hesitation was – ‘hate both, but I rather by led by the one in sheep’s clothing’. Which gives you perspective. I do worry though, once the final-not-so-final-legal-not-so-legal-made-up-not-made-up-bought votes are counted, and recounted, behind closed doors, through glass doors, and everything in between (for years in the works) leaning towards the wolf in sheep’s clothing, what this country will be like, when in a few months, the ‘newly elected man of power, as scripted, …

Food: French Onion Soup with A Twist

It’s strange how I tend to forget about French onion soup for the family. I suppose mostly because there are mixed feelings about the onion part. I love it, and the rest of the family tends not to. But this recipe is one I am going to put on this week’s menu – served with a day-old artisan loaf. (Wine of course for me) INGREDIENTS 6 tablespoons salted butter 4 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced 1 1/4 cups dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc 3 cloves garlic minced or grated 2 cups cremini or wild mushrooms, sliced 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves 2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage 1 teaspoon honey 6-8 cups low sodium chicken or vegetable broth 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce) 2 bay leaves kosher salt and black pepper 1/2 cup heavy cream 6 slices french bread 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese (Munster Cheese or Havarti for me) – (click here for the full recipe how to)

Stay Calm America

For the past four years, Americans and the entire world have watched, and listened to uncensored opinion, comments, and display of anger and frustration, and hard-core divide towards the current President of the country. And now the time has come to see if the voices are heard, and if the undisclosed reform some are longing for will prevail over the transparency in recent years, which by the way, this country is not accustomed to standing. All I ask is that we remain calm, no matter the outcome, and rise above in a dignified manner…and stop the hate that has been the driving force behind the ugliest divide this country has seen in modern times. Embrace your friends, your family and have faith that everything happens for a reason…no matter how badly you want it your way. {featured image source and full credit}

Visual Therapy This November Morning

Last night, I said goodnight to the full moon, and set my clock back and turned in. This morning, I woke up to a new month, a new time, and watched the same glistening moon against the graceful skies, slowly lapsing into another time zone. I felt sad for some strange reason. I normally feel this way at the beginning of November, knowing there is just two months to the end of a year – and what a year it has been. Not the best I must admit, but we can only hope that the future is brighter, for as long as we do our part to live peacefully, in a dignified fashion. That is the key… So for today, I want to share what I call visual therapy – in hopes to contain the amount of anxiety looming across the globe: Featured image source is the ideal life I imagine for myself

What A Backyard Reno Should Feel Like

In light of the fact, we are all adapting to new ways of living, mostly outdoors, I have decided next spring to embark, well actually, hire someone to actually do the hard labor of renovating our backyard. Which hasn’t been touched since the house was built in the 1930s. Disclaimer: Most backyards, in homes in the sunset in San Francisco are hardly used since before COVID everyone would simply venture to the outdoors near and far in California. So, Spring, and these ideas are being pinned on my board to help set the direction of the landscape I am aiming to achieve. Source and full credit

Sunday Hello

I decided before I dive into work this morning, that I’d play catch up here with all of you. Hello, how are you doing? Hope well enough considering this year and all of its very heightened, or highlighted challenges. But we are in middle of October, even though it feels as though we have no idea how we got here. But we did. There’s lots to talk about. There is exciting news about travel – in that some parts of the world are starting to open up – one in particular that grabbed my attention was Machu Picchu and the misinformation surrounding its closure during early COVID and now. The other misinformation naturally swirls around our country’s upcoming election and the bullying and manipulating from ALL parties on either side of the playground. Now although this sort of dirty play has been done decades before, none has stood out as much as this year’s election. That is because the masses are on lockdown, and have nowhere to go but their televisions sets to endure the …

Weeks Worth of Thoughts

I’ve been away as I mentioned a week or so back, because I’ve had to readjust my days in caring for my mother, who fell and broke her arm, then a few days later, fell again and broke or fractured another part of her arm. Mind you I am not stating my personal life here, for any sort of empathy, I am simply stating the fact, that is what has kept me away from all things I love, writing, photography, walking and even watching films. But, this morning, while my mother finally figured out a way to sleep peacefully, I decided to sit here, next to her of course, and catch up with all of you, who by the way keep my grounded. So here we go… My first thought is – what a twisted world we live in. And more specifically what a sad state America has turned into. I have never imagined the level of cruelty among mankind could escalate to such vileness. Especially in these trying times, where unity and dignity is …

Absence May Grow The Heart Fonder

In an optimistic world, one wakes up on a Monday morning looking ahead to a balanced week – some work, some play, a lot of home cooking and enjoying many films, preferably foreign or filmed on location somewhere one might be longing to travel to. But, that isn’t always the case, because the universe usually has something different in store – especially when you least expect it. Last week, too many things reshaped my days, and I felt overwhelmed until I slowly regrouped and began figuring out a rhythm to follow.  Do you ever feel that way? When your life goes out of whack and you are left with figuring out a new way to adapt. Haha! What am I talking about – this year we’ve all had to figure out a new lifestyle. The sad thing about obstacles in life is that the first thing it does is suck the creativity out of you and hence the most creative of things become the most difficult to attain. So while I continue to readjust my …
