Decor: Traditional Homes You Can Rent In U.K.

Normally when I am in England, I spend a week or so near Norfolk – to visit family and I love it when we drive to Cornwall, or Cotswold for a few days in between my stay.  While there, I often joke about buying a house, although deep down I truly wish that I could – at least rent one for a few months to see if living abroad is doable really. Which house do you fancy? {featured image Cotswold, England}

Food: Beef Empanadas Argentinian Style

There is a place in the Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco, that I think serves the best Empanadas – El Porteno. I’m only saying this because I haven’t been to Argentina, nor elsewhere outside of the country that serve up this specialty. The trouble is, I cannot have just one. So I order half a dozen and keep them at work to indulge one a day for the week. Okay, sometimes two a day – you know on a foggy cold day when one is needing all the comfort in great food ;). Anyway – I figured it’s about time I learned how to make them at home and this recipe is pretty easy to follow: INGREDIENTS 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided 1½ pounds ground beef (20% fat) 2 onions, chopped 2 red bell peppers, seeded, chopped Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper 3 tablespoons ground cumin 2 tablespoons sweet paprika 1 tablespoon dried oregano ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper 1½ cups low-sodium chicken stock or broth 2 teaspoons sugar ½ cup raisins 3 packages (12 …

Travel: Layover Mini Tours

Here’s an interesting concept for those who would rather do something extraordinary during a layover – than just sit or pace the boarding area of a crowded airport – take advantage of a mini tour offered by these flight connecting destinations: Here’s something you might enjoy – Michigan’s Lavender Labyrinth

Food: Dinner Tonight – A Twist On Chicken Sandwich

Just a reminder, our household is one Keto and the rest, anything but – so I am always in search of recipe inspirations to create my own variation of a meal that suits the clan. In this case, tonight’s meal will be chicken sandwiches and chips for them and see below what my meal will look like from the recipe below: I love how easy dinner planning is – no matter the dietary restrictions. INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup real maple syrup 1 tablespoon sambal oelek (spicy chili sauce) 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil kosher salt and pepper 1 pound boneless skinless chicken tenders 4 slices thick cut bacon, chopped 4 ears corn, kernels removed from the cob (about 4 cups total) (remove this for Keto)  1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped 2 green onions, chopped 1/2 cup shredded cabbage 1/2 cup fresh blueberries  (remove this for Keto)  4 ciabatta rolls, toasted  (remove this for Keto)  1/2 cup plain greek yogurt  (my cheat but you can remove it for hardcore Keto followers)  1/4 cup basil pesto 1 avocado, sliced {featured image source}

Travel: New York’s Best Restaurants

I had trouble deciding how to categorize this post. Meaning, whether I should link it to Food, Decor or Travel. Because you see…it covers all and how it came to be on my radar? Well, because a friend of mine is headed to New York soon and my helping to figure out how to get around led to this wonderful discovery of best restaurants in New York in terms of decor and food.  Although, I can imagine just how many wonderful list of eateries there are in this famous city. Let me know if you agree or have other recommends you want to tack on here: {featured image source}

Decor: For the Rental

I was sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office the other day, in the most elegant of surroundings. I realized just then that the ambiance the designers of the office had created, most probably was intended to put all the patients worries to rest. It was a cross between French elegance and modern Swedish decor, which could work for that rental property you’ve just signed the lease for 12 months or a refresh throughout your first condo or loft.  To express the concept of what I mean, I have added a few ideas from here Now, although all the information about the furniture/furnishing is listed here, you can personalize the decor with similar items you find locally. My favorites are Scandinavian Design stores, IKEA of course, and various antique stores just to name a few.

Travel: Romantic Road Trip – Rome to Paris

I haven’t yet adventured to go on an actual road trip through Europe. I always feel train travel is sufficient in getting me to where I needed to go without the stress of driving while on vacation in a foreign country. Although, a friend of mine who lives in England took me on weekend road trips throughout the country last March and this past May and since then I’ve been thinking – is it something to experience at least once, with a loved one or even a friend to explore outside my comfort zone-driving on foreign soil. And just as I’ve been contemplating, this bit of article popped up on my screen. A road trip from Rome to Paris Now, I have been to all of these destinations, except Reims and Stresa and perhaps I can chart my own romantic or otherwise road trip to see destinations unreachable by RailEurope. But I will say, if you haven’t been to these amazing and beautiful places, and want a fairly simple and planned road trip, then reach …

Food: Where To Go In the States For Your Favorite Dish

Perfecting a dish is a work of art – and to experience the best of your favorite foods, you must travel through the 50 states. For example in my case, I’d need to go to: {featured image – Cedar plank salmon from Washington} I swear my list of favorites can go on and on, but it’s only fair if you go here to see the rest of the best dishes across the 50 states. I also realize while gathering my list that my brain is subconsiously in comfort food mode. What’s your favorite Americanized dish? And what state is best known in your opinion – for the best a dish can offer.
