Beautiful travel photography I needed to share today from here and here:
This hotel I found, when I did my daily ritual of reading about my celebrity crush – Gerard Butler. Who is currently in Italy attending a festival of sorts and then some. I’ve been to Italy a million times, but have never ventured to Ischia. The most has been Capri. So, it’s wonderful to discover and based on all that I have read about this wonderful destination – I am definitely in!
Today there are no words that express best the thoughts going through my head. I just need to stare at pretty things: {from here, here and here, and here}
I love a new hotel, or the experience of it. My hubs and I got to experience such a wonder in Madrid Spain a few years back – staying in a beautiful hotel that had opened for one a week. The service was amazing, the amenities over the top, and even complimentary drinks were offered on their rooftop bar. We loved the experience, and most of all, loved the fact, we paid half the price since the property was so new. In line with this topic, I am sharing a few of the hotels I plan to experience from a Conde Nast Traveller list of best new hotels 2017: {Featured: Taylor’s River Lodge, Crested Butte, Colorado}
I miss running a travel agency, over a decade ago, when travelers alike walked into an actual brick and mortar to discuss their plans. But even though those days are long gone, I still feel the urge to share all things travel on RS&S. So, with that said, I share with you the latest bit of helpful information for that amazing trip you have planned or are planning over the summer: Secrets you learn from a culinary school in terms of how to maintain a healthy travel experience. And for those, which happened often during my travel agency days, waiting for the last minute to get a password, here’s how. Tipping has always been an issue for me – meaning to say – I never know when, how much and if at all. Here’s a tipping guide that clears it all up. Then there is the carry-on bag or what I call organized travel. This company may have just resolved that – check it out. Here’s a list of new hotels in Europe, and 10 …
I can’t believe it’s already Spring break and thoughts of graduation, weddings, and family vacations are in full swing. Now, although I did all my traveling in the month of March this year, I still yearn for another trip late September or early October. One of the biggest concern when I was in England was the effects Britexit would have on travelers, even the issues in the US were a concern to those abroad considering coming to America for their holidays. Although I listened to the news, read reports and discussed such concerns over coffee and dinner with those I met up with in Europe, I decided not to allow of it to discourage me – about traveling anyway. But just in case you are having these sort of discussions in your households, and/or having trouble pinpointing where to go, then perhaps these articles I’ve found here and there could help. If not, then pass them on to someone who it can:
Finally made it to the country for a few days, where I was shocked to see the moon, the first night. It’s funny how we take things for granted until it isn’t there anymore. In my case, due to the crazy heavy fog in San Francisco, I haven’t seen the moon since early May. So you can imagine my amazement when I lay in bed Wednesday night and saw the moon shining across my room. Besides that fact, during the very hot hours in the day in this neck of the woods where it’s not smart to be outdoors, I got online (of course) and found these interesting topics:
Around this time of the year, lists of places to travel pop up all over the internet. Sites suggesting this and that place, some even cross-referencing destinations. Everything making it really difficult for me to plot out my travel destinations for the rest of my life of places I want to see and experience: Here are some suggestions for 2016 according to this list. Actually, the places below take priority for me in the near future:
One of the benefits of being a writer is that you spend a lot of time falling in love with wonderful places, and extraordinary lifestyles, and interesting people, which and that inspire to create a story-no matter the genre-stories come from the passion writer feel about something o someone. I do a lot of research online, as you may have already noticed from this fun place called RawSilk&Saffron, and when I stumble upon something that sparks an interest or is best suited for a whole or part of my storytelling, I, Bookmark it, the old-fashioned way, right into a folder on my computer, I set up for every novel I’ve published, and the ones I plan to write. So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon these amazing photographs of a Seaside Cabin-I have no clue as to where it is-adding to a folder-for a wonderful story I have thus far drafted. The Seaside cabin is surely a scene I need to add OR, simply escape to if I can only figure out …
We’ve made it through the first quarter of the year, although really I don’t know how we got here. Wait. I do know exactly how I got here. I was too busy helping with three moves in four months, a remodel, a book edit going on sale April 16, the ear to everyone’s problems, the one doing all the comforting, ego boosting, problem solving and care giving. I know exactly what filled my days. On Saturday, instead of staying home, I got up early, showered, and actually got dressed up, even wore my make up and left the house. To have breakfast with a friend who called to say she was in town for a vet appointment. Spending the entire morning with her, on Chestnut Street, having breakfast, chatting up a storm, then window-shopping, checking out the books on display at my favorite Books Inc. store, and even grabbing a freshly squeezed fruit juice in a bottle. It turned out to be a nice day. In our conversation, both of us longing for a week-long …
