Health & Beauty: This and That

So many articles, so little time, I say about all that is offered up to better yourself, your appearance and even your outlook on life. I welcome them all and take from each suggestion whatever suits me. Or that I feel is obtainable. I don’t put too much pressure on myself to look more than I do. I prefer natural in all things makeup and hair color. Clothes I don’t go overboard – my closet, full of staple pieces and fashion that can be carried on throughout a few years, mixing and matching and creating my own simple style. I love how fashion has evolved now that we can actually wear flats to accentuate and feel sexy. Clothes have become more comfortable and consciously designed for the women on the go. I’ll elaborate more as time goes on – but for now, here’s my latest finds:

Healthy and Beauty: Yoga Right About Now

Parts of the weekend didnt’ turn out how I expected – with my stress level elevating to highs so out-of-control that my body simply shut down. This is of course stress upon stress of every-day life and  some not-so-normal  nonsense. I realized after taking a step back and deep breaths, that I needed to re-start my yoga classes – without coming up with a dozen or more excuses that I need to be elsewhere first taking care of anyone else but myself. So the first thing I did, was add a weekly reoccurring calendar reminder for Fridays at eleven in the morning for me to simply disconnect from my life,  and go do yoga, followed by deep meditation. And naturally the internet sensing my needs, added a site for amazing yoga retreats to consider, to keep the momentum going.  Here are the ones I am seriously considering: Located in Bali, Blooming Lotus Yoga Retreat is set in an island paradise. The retreat offers daily Vinyasa Flow classes, suitable for all levels, each morning. There are …

Lifestyle: Personality Traits – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

I do countless hours of self-reflecting – especially after every incident, good or bad, in my life. I wonder if my handling of a situation was the best approach. Or the fact,  why is it people are intimated by me, then there are days, I feel as if I am not getting through to anyone. So I evaluate, troubleshoot, and either I come out of it disappointed in myself, or I hold my head high, positive that I did or said the right thing, even if seemingly too objective or somewhat constructive, or totally negative to others. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad one – but I found an article that defines my strong personality – or they are simply labeling it as ‘strong’ – it could very well be perceived as  a bad trait. Who knows – but I am curious to hear your opinion, especially if you experience the same things. So here it goes – 8 Signs That You Have A Strong Personality That Might Intimidate Some …

Travel: The Best Resorts In The U.S.

I love tourists, especially when I see them about the city (San Francisco) discovering the usual and some venturing out to the avenues to see the beaches, and hopefully a little of the city’s culture outside of the norm. I always feel like I should add my two cents when I see tourists on a street corner, with map fully opened, trying to figure out a bus route. I want to say, hey follow me to my neighborhood and try this restaurant or pub or simply take a walk through the blocks and check out the colorful homes perched along the streets. But I let them be, and only offer up advise when I am asked for direction 🙂 So, dear lovely tourist who are planning a trip to the U.S. – this article is for you – the best resorts in the U.S. for getting back to nature: For more go here

Travel: Latest French Inspiration

First topic about France on RawSilkandSaffron for 2018. I am sure my friends are wondering what is wrong with me to have waited so long to bring up my favorite destination and all things French :). But January has been a difficult month for my beloved city and surrounding countryside due to all the flooding, I am hopeful that they will safely pull through it. {photo source} Focusing on the positive – I found this article at the beginning of January – about Montmartre, décor de cinéma – I suggest if you are aiming to include Paris this year in your holiday (a.k.a vacation) planning and if you haven’t been, see the classic film An American In Paris before heading to the cinema. French films have been around longer than American and I am happy that there is a place in Paris finally creating an ambiance so we can truly appreciate films that are made in the city of romance.  Films such as An American in Paris (Vincente Minnelli, 1951), Moulin Rouge (Baz Luhrmann, 2001), Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen, 2010); to French …

Some Positives From Around the Internet

This post came to mind last night, when I spent countless hours trying to work with my health care provider about seeing specialists, then with the cable provider to work through their ‘triple play’ deal to combine TV, internet and telephone service, and by the time I was speaking with the utility service provider for our neck of the woods, I was spent. Why does everything need to be a struggle? So, early morning, while scrolling through the news, this article popped up, BREAKING NEWS – Amazon, JPMorgan and Warren Buffett announce they are launching independent healthcare company for their employees  – giving hope even if it might be years before we can see results, I am pleased to hear the news Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5329705/Amazon-JPMorgan-Berkshire-creating-new-health-care-company.html#ixzz55gV8w9HV Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook How to finally cut the cord on cable TV – is something I’ve been considering for over a year now, especially after monitoring our TV watching habits.
