Visual Therapy – That’s All

What is it about greenery or flower and fauna that puts a smile on our faces? This beautiful collection of greenhouses from around the world couldn’t have come at a better time for me – and I hope for you – to ward off the end-to-summer blues I’m feeling right about now. Greenhouses are the nearest thing to holding on to summer days, even in the worst of weathers outdoor. I remember a trip to Montreal a few years back, in the middle of dead-winter, I visited a local greenhouse and was taken away by the beautiful collection of greens and colorful plants and flowers, a contradiction to the freezing all-white scenery outside. It was pure therapy, visual and mental.

Lifestyle: Self Love

I’ve been discussing the topic of self-love or not-so-much with a few close friends of mine recently – and although after the talks, I feel a little better about things, sooner than later, I fall back into the bad habits I’ve developed like most who are hard on ourselves. You know the kind where you don’t think you’ve reached your full potential or that you are spending too much time taking care of others and not so much yourself, or simply the guilty feelings when you fail at something you’ve set out to do, or even giving up. I think what I wonder most is, how some people know exactly how to talk themselves out of those destructive behaviors while others don’t. And then I wonder if those who preach – are they truly as together as they come across. When I am out in the world, or simply my neck of the world, I observe others naturally, to figure out why the (worried, distant, tired, disappointed, or sad) expression plastered across their faces and …

Although this articles asks the question – which L.A. neighborhood fits your personality best – I decided to consider the topic a touristy adventure instead. Travel: Not the Same Old…

I can’t figure out in which order travel falls into my top three obsessions – which are: writing, photography, travel. OR. Travel, writing, photography. OR Photography, travel, writing.  But it’s up there and so with that said, I am again online searching for more, much more about travel. In this case, not the same old ideas (hopefully).  Enjoy your Sunday afternoon read:

Food: Grilled Sweet Potato, Baked Beans and Cilantro Yogurt Drizzle

I’ve indulged sweet potatoes for about ten years now. I mean to say, in addition to eating them every Thanksgiving supper. I used to simply order them as fries and just nipple while enjoying a cocktail with friends. And then I grew up and began to experiment with different recipes. So with that bit of nonessential  intro – I give you the following recipe I think is a meal in itself: INGREDIENTS  2 large sweet potatoes 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil (or any neutral high-heat oil) 1 red onion, diced 2 cloves of garlic, minced 1 can of black beans, drained 1 cup of (your favorite) bbq sauce (store bought, or homemade) 6oz of plain greek yogurt (coconut yogurt to make this dairy-free) 2 tablespoons of minced shallots ¼ teaspoon of salt 1 tablespoon of lemon juice ½ cup of cilantro leaves (plus more for garnish)

Lifestyle: How To…

There seems to be an online manual for everything these days and that’s fine. Because once in a while we do need a little push to get things done, or even ideas to improve upon the norm, and then there are even suggestions which raise an eye brow or causes our jaws to drop open, wondering why we didn’t think of this or that. Anyway, you get the point and so here we go:     {photo source}
