autumn in the air – what to look forward to

When you live in a city like San Francisco, it’s really difficult to tell when the seasons change. Unless of course you are completely in-tuned with nature. Either way,  Autumn has become one of my favorite seasons and one that I look forward to, almost secretly. Autumn is an inspiring season for many reasons: photo credits and merchandise information: photo 1 – click here: photo 2 – click here: photo 3 – click here and here: photo 4 click here: photo 5 – click here

fashion week – nyc 2013 – christian siriano

While traveling through Paris (Which I will cover shortly), I cannot help but focus more on fashion then anything else and since this is fashion week in NYC, I decided to share my favorites from Christian Siriano Spring 2013 collection from here:

fashion week – nyc 2013 – zac posen

I needed to shift gears for a minute since we are in the middle of fashion week in New York. I cannot help but be completely inspired by the Spring 2013 collection which I have seen here. Here are some of my favorites from designer Zac Posen Spring 2013 collection

day 4 and 5 – travel journal – cinque terre,italy

On day 4 we took the train from Florence to Genoa to get close enough to Cinque Terre so that on day 5 we could spend the entire day trekking (maybe) through the five fishing villages. We woke up early on day 5 to catch a seven a.m. train to Monterosso, which was the suggested first stop by the agent at the train station. The train ride from Genoa to Monterosso costs 6.10Euros per person one way on the regional train, (which meant way too many stops until we reached our destination. So, after two hours on the train experiencing delays and stops, we finally reached Monterosso and got off the train without realizing we had no idea what to do next. Although I read many tour books and online suggestions on how to get around the five villages, nothing prepared me for adventure we were about to experience.  Thankfully the agent at the train station spoke enough English to explain our choices. Either purchase a day pass for unlimited train/bus rides from one village …

the benefits of coastal living

Despite the fog throughout most of the summer in San Francisco, there are occasional days when the sun breaks through and everyone in the city heads out to the coast, just to get a glimpse of the ocean. Lucky for me, this once in a blue moon event happened on Saturday past and I was able to go on my usual walk along the coast and capture some breath taking photographs with my cell phone (of course). {click on the first photo to view the slide show and remember the photos are the property of http://www.rawsilkandsaffron.wordpress.comm – Thank you}

italy vacation hot spot – lake como

I love to travel and could probably do so, ten or so months out of the year. But what I love the most about travel is discovering new places or frequenting ones which have left an unforgetable impression. One place in particular which I could actually travel too as much as George Clooney does, is Lake Como. I have grown to appreciate the region not only for it’s beauty, but also for it’s peacefulness and tranquility. Lake Como is an ideal place to hide from the world while trying to get the much needed rest and relaxation from everyday life.  There is no pressure to play tourist and the most stress I experienced was having to leave the place. There are many ways to get to Lake Como which are detailed here, and many things to see which are also detailed here. Just remember to bring a good pair of walking shoes, a camera and the desire to experience one of the most memorable and romantic vacation spots in your lifetime.

san francisco weekend social calendar – june 29 to july 1

I have decided to include a new entry on my blog called San Francisco Weekend Social Calendar.  The purpose of this entry is to loop you in on what I recommend  to do over the weekend in San Francisco. Tourists are welcome of course. So for this weekend, being June 29 thru July 1, I recommend the following  {click on photo for details}: Friday, June 29, 2012 – AT&T Park For The Garlic Festival. Need I say more, Garlic, The Giants, good times 🙂 Saturday, June 30, 2012 – Private Garden Dinner for 10 at Regazza. This is a special offer which in my opinion is amazing if you have a group of friends on a budget (or not) Sunday, July 30,2012 – Eurocup Final Italy vs Spain (Go Italy!!!) at Lalola Bar De Tapas . Whether you are a fan of soccer (a.k.a. football) or not doesn’t matter. It’s a fun filled experience for sure.

the aftermath of the film mirror mirror

I take film watching very seriously as we know it here and so, before anyone judges, I have a few things to say about the film Mirror Mirror and it’s impact on me (a woman over 40). First, let’s clarify, the film, is really not one to run to the movie theater for, but outside of that fact and of course in my opinion, it is a comedic take on a middle-aged woman’s struggles to stay desirable and loved in the world of the “Snow Whites” (meaning the younger woman). Subliminal, the message may be, I couldn’t help but walk away feeling nothing but sorry for the “Evil” step mother, who seemed misunderstood  and mostly lonely, in this version of The Snow White story.
