What’s On My Mind This Week

I wake up every Monday very optimistic about the week. Although I face many daily challenges, I’d like to give the week a change to unfold in a surprising manner. And you know what? It does not disappoint. I get surprised by the hurdles, the funny moments, the laughter, some form of irritation, and even despair on a daily basis. Which by the way all sort of disappear by Sunday afternoon, when I stream a recap of all things the past week in an effort to move on. I used to bottle it all up, and dwell but with age 🙂 I am learning to let go more. So here’s the problem. This morning I have a virtual call with a life coach. Something my company offered and I jumped on the chance of ‘perhaps’ learning something new or revisiting things I’ve sort of lost track of. I am always open to learning I will fill you in on how it goes. But I do have to say I am a bit anxious about the …

We’ve had Spring-like weather in San Francisco for a couple of weeks now, and although I wish it would rain more, I am happy with the chance that I can enjoy the bright sunny days. So although the plan this morning is to attend one meeting after another, I wanted to share some interesting topics I came across. Just in case you are bundled up at home aching for a distraction or two or three. 😉 Have you see 11.22.63 on Hulu? A suspense thriller based on Stephen King’s novel about the assassination of JFK. Although since it is based on events which actually happened in American and even world history, I found it most interesting to get a glimpse of what would have happened if time travel allowed us to go back in time and ‘fix’ a problem or two. If you have seen it, I have to ask. What did you think of the actor portraying Lee Harvey Oswald’s character. I was feeling a little off this past week, and probably my worst …

Smile Worthy Oceanic Masterpiece

I have to admit, I’ll always choose animals/mammals over humans any day. Sounds a bit harsh? Perhaps. But I feel as if I have a deep, and soothing connection with all things nature, and for that very reason, I want to share this spectacular creation. Which I replay on my laptop, the moment I feel overwhelmed or stressed with work. Enjoy Featured image source and full credit here

Life Rhythm And White Space

As I listen to close friends and family members vent to me about various aspects of their lives: stress, anxiety and struggles with depression, I wonder how I can relay to them lessons I have learned over the years from my own life experiences, without offending or hurting their feelings. So for the time being I simply listen, and in between I insert some tidbits… Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself. After all you are the doing best that you can under all circumstances. Strengthen Your Core (Body and mind) : Avoid fad diets and opt for healthy eating instead. Exercise in the simplest fashion possible-walk any way possible, or dance in the middle of your living room to your favorite tunes. Take care of your mental health-whether simply hiding in a corner of the house, with the lights off, meditating to calming music. Or watching a stand-up comedy on television, or simply dabbling in a craft or hobby. Strengthening your core should be the least stressful thing you do. Find Your Life Rhythm: May …

Some Interesting Facts

Our (U.S.) first three day weekend of the year, and we woke up to Tsunami warnings along the Pacific Coast. Apparently, a ripple affect from the Volcanic eruption in the South Pacific here. Although we did not get the full impact on this side of the coast-California, much different was reported from the other side, as well as Chili in South America. I stared at my views of the Pacific ocean much of Saturday thinking about how one body of water, connecting two continents, can impact the other side in so many different ways-be it a scientific, or natural force. Apparently this eruption was a ‘once-in-a-millennium‘ event, just in case you are as intrigued as I am. And yet, I wonder how one would have any time to prepare for such a thing? I couldn’t shake off the feeling on Sunday while moping around the house. So by nightfall, I decided a Monday day-trip was necessary to help unwind and/or stop the obsession over natural disasters. So we settled on Sonoma, mostly for the picturesque …

Financial Strategy for 2022

I had a conversation with my financial planner last week…well technically last year…about my portfolio. His main concern – whether I was on track or whatever track I saw myself in the coming decade. I took a deep breath and slowly released because I did not want him to sense how uneasy I felt about discussing money, future, and outlook – all in one go. So we treaded lightly on the subject. I asked for his opinion on the market, bitcoin and the likes, the economy, the pandemic and all other natural and man made disasters or threats. I could sense him hesitating not to offend, not to say too much and try his best to remain optimistic over the hour telephone conversation. So at the top of the hour, where he mentioned he needed to call his next client, we ended by me agreeing to think about my investment strategy, and him emailing me some materials to read and muddle through, to settle on the choices I wanted to make for 2022. I put …

It’s only Thursday, but for my post time-change-over-the-weekend brain, it feels like it should be a Saturday or June for that matter. Nevertheless, my day is filled with meetings. To the point that sitting still during a video call with a poker face is becoming more and more challenging. As I find my mind drifting off to the winding and narrow back streets of Cannes. Yes the one in France. That’s where I am inside my head, while perched on a ergonomic chair, looking at the camera. Why Cannes, I don’t know. But 20 minutes into a meeting, and I am whisked away to those streets. When the meetings are done, I walk from my desk to my bed and lay there for a second or two in an effort to clear my head or plan dinner. That is until someone pings me for attention… So in case you feel the need to escape from all things mundane, read on. For the love of Downtown Abbey, you’ll be glad to know the sequel A New …

Friend Breakup

Have you ever had a friend break up with you? In a text message? A few months ago, a work friend whom I’ve known for sometime, fifteen years to be exact pretty much without actually typing the words, let me know that our friendship was over. I didn’t challenge it at the time, but since, I’ve been wondering why… Funny story. We met in the most unusual way. The commuter train we were on, broke down. So a group of familiar faces who took the same train daily, decided to walk along the route until we were able to catch the next train. Which never happened and we all ended up reaching our destination respective destination and veered to our homes. Weeks later I ran into him on the train again, we joked about the day the train broke down. And one day to the next of running into one another and stopping to chat, we eventually became commuter buddies. One day he told me he was moving to another town and was going to …
