Boutique Hotel Pick – 1 Hotel – New York

In San Francisco most buildings or hotels being renovated are considering going the eco-friendly route, and I do appreciate the concept of it because I am an advocate of green. So it was nice to see this article about the CEO of Starwood Hotels taking measures to recreate the company owned properties focused on sustainability and going all the way green. In light of one of my favorite topics, I have selected 1Hotel as my boutique hotel pick .  This is where I will be staying during my trip to New York in a few months hopefully if they aren’t book by the time I lock down the dates.

Travel: Planning Is Half the Battle

I’ve paused all thoughts of travel lately because I’m very focused on novel 3 and all that go along with promoting my pride and joy.  But once in a while, you know on a sunny beautiful day in San Francisco, I get the urge, to just plan – because I do know what I want to do this year for our big trip to Europe. But finding a few good suggestions never hurts anyone – especially this girl. So, buckle up and take a tour of what I found pretty interesting – in travel that is:

Sunday Cravings: A Week By The Poolside – Italy

We’ve made it through the first quarter of the year, although really I don’t know how we got here. Wait. I do know exactly how I got here. I was too busy helping with three moves in four months, a remodel, a book edit going on sale April 16, the ear to everyone’s problems, the one doing all the comforting, ego boosting, problem solving and care giving. I know exactly what filled my days. On Saturday, instead of staying home,  I got up early, showered, and actually got dressed up, even wore my make up and left the house. To have breakfast with a friend who called to say she was in town for a vet appointment.  Spending the entire morning with her, on Chestnut Street, having breakfast, chatting up a storm, then window-shopping, checking out the books on display at my favorite Books Inc. store, and even grabbing a freshly squeezed fruit juice in a bottle. It turned out to be a nice day. In our conversation, both of us longing for a week-long …

We Need A Festival of Lights Everywhere and mostly in San Francisco

Feeling the need for visual therapy this morning, after scrolling through article after article about the Paris attacks and what we should and shouldn’t do. The idea of it all mentally draining, when thinking about it in dept. I decided I needed some lights, or fireworks or anything to do with happy thoughts to ease some of the anxiety starting to build up about the word around us.  The Berlin Festival of Lights which happened in October came to mind, admiring many of the Instagram photos and not saved online for our viewing pleasure.

Travel: Bordeaux, France

I included Bordeaux a few years ago on one of my trips to France. But only because I was travelling by train at the time, and didn’t want to take long-haul train rides from Spain into France. So I used Bordeaux as a hub, spending only a day or two in a small hotel in the outskirts of the city. My loss I gather from this article detailing (just in time mind you because I was considering bypassing France on my next trip to Europe) eight reasons why we need to consider Bordeaux. {photo source}

‘Ode’ to Paris Fashion Week

Paris and I go ways back, to when I first visited this amazing city at age eleven to visit with family at the time. Since then I’ve been to Paris a dozen plus times, not only for family, but just because, I need to be there every year simply soaking it up. In light of the fact it is Paris Fashion week, I’d like to share with a few tid-bits (if you will) about my favorite city-next to San Francisco of course. Well maybe just a tad more than San Francisco. {photo source} {photo source} {photo source}

Travel: Scotland It Is

Ah the beauty and intrigue of Scotland, I have forever passed up when traveling to Europe. Until a year back when a dear friend of mine insisted we make a stop in Scotland on our way to Italy, so she could show me her favorite destination in the world. I went along and sure enough, found myself falling in love with the country so much  that I actually  wrote another novel, currently in edit and cover design mode, about Scotland. Just a side note, I am having trouble coming up with a title. So for so many reasons,  I dedicate this travel piece to Scotland:
