Boutique Hotel Pick – Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron – Salzburg, Austria

I usually wait until mid-March to begin posting my boutique hotel picks. You know at a time when some of begin planning our vacations.  This year I’ve considered including Austria on my agenda since I haven’t been to this lovely destination for over 10 years. In light of my interest, I’ve found a boutique hotel worth mentioning here. And of course since Salzburg is a must stop for me, this is where I want to be – in a fairy tale setting with a modern twist: Does Sound of Music ring a bell to anyone?

Travel: Winter Season and All

I realized this past October while in Europe – that there is no off-season to travelling. People travel throughout the year – with their kids and without. I often wonder about the ones that do travel with kids during school season. But to each his/her own. Anyway, just in case you are considering a getaway this winter season – here are some suggestions: And last, the featured image suggests there are 17 Most Romantic Winter Destinations in the US – to get a glimpse click here

Travel: For the Solo At Heart

As you may know that I travel very often – and most of the time I do it with someone. Whether the hubs, or friends or a group I’ve put together – I am never alone. This past trip – in October – which I have yet to share with all of you but couldn’t because  upon my return, there was an air to the nation, a sort of daunting pre-election jitters, compounded by the results and the aftermath, and just as the dust is settling (hopefully-perhaps I am out of touch) we jump right into the holiday season – Thanksgiving and all the planning that goes with it. So, until I can share with you all of the wonderful discoveries I made on this trip. I have been reading articles about travelling every chance I get. You see, while on the plane back to San Francisco, I found myself toying with the idea of travelling alone – at least once, and this article seems to be encouraging me along:

Travel: Past The Season

I love traveling off-season, and have been planning my trips abroad around the crazy madness of summer travel.  Where instead of relaxing and enjoying yourself on vacation, you are more stressed out by the overwhelming crowds, packed restaurants, museums and whatnot. To me that’s not vacation. So if you happen to be those considering a trip right about now somewhere – say Europe – and thrive on too-much-good-information of sorts, then…. {Greece photo credit}

Boutique Hotel Pick – Castel Fragsburg – Close to Heaven On Earth

I love the wording on the front page of hotel Castel Fragsburg: The wild romanticism of the South Tyrolean Alps and the sensuous charm of the Mediterranean – the Fragsburg is the meeting point of two seemingly opposite worlds that blend to create an unforgettable style of life. Once I read those words, I was in. I had to click my way to finding what is considered to be as close to heaven on Earth destination wonderfully detailed on the hotel’s website. If you don’t believe me, read on: Nestled on a sun-drenched mountainside high above Merano is South Tyrol’s smallest five-star hotel. Crisp alpine air flows down from above, mingling with the glorious Mediterranean sunshine: This historic hunting lodge combines two apparently incompatible worlds into an art of fine living. And there is much more, you’ll just have to click here to read. To top it off, there are naturally photos which have certainly sealed the deal for me.  Believe me when I say, this one is on my list of luxury destinations bucket …

Travel: London Eats While On Vacation or Anytime

A good friend of mine moved to the UK a few months ago, and ever since I’ve been trying to recruit her to become a guest writer on this very site of mine that I love so much. She’s thinking – she’s told me, and after 3 months I realize I am not going to hold my breath. Now although she lives a few hours outside of London, she frequents one of my favorite metropolitan cities quite often – on weekends – and with my recommendations has been testing out the following eateries (which I cannot wait to try when I visit her). In the meantime I am taking her word for the fact that what I think would be worth a try, she is liking every bite of it (nudge nudge). So, just in case you happen to be visiting this fair city, in a country on the brink of making some of the most drastic changes since the EU was  originally formed decades or a century ago depending on how you look at …
