Mother’s Day Brunch At Home Or In The Garden

Before this year’s restrictions on social gatherings – my mother preferred a family dinner at home instead of the going out. So the day would start with me buying an abundance of a flowers from the flower market and arranging them in different vases and placing them throughout her house.  Breakfast would consist of her favorite, crepes simply enjoyed with a dash of sugar and cinnamon, and some tea. Then for dinner, I’d make her favorite pasta dish, or roast, or chicken fajita – based on what she is craving. No gifts, just a classic film we’d watch together over dessert – a slice of lemon cake or ice cream, if our weather permits. So, this year is no different – at least in our household – where I will spend the day just like the years before.  And since we are all on a necessary lockdown, consider a brunch, maybe in the garden, where the family gets all dressed up, and use the finest china and silverware, and offer up mom a wonderful family …

Decor: We Don’t Have to Agree On Everything

Home decor is naturally based on one’s taste in how to create the most comfortable home while personalizing it to express one’s artistic qualities – was my thought process this morning, while taking part in four back-to-back zoom meetings for work. Yes, I often feel my brain wandering off to elsewhere during repetitive meetings or those not very well presented. But onto the decor I was referring to and parts of this home, I would love to see in mine. what has you feeling the need to escape the mundane?

Monday Updates and More Lovely Things

…And we are back – to another work week and the continuation of our current lifestyle – which by the way I have gotten so used to now. Have you? Lots happened over the weekend, mostly in my head, where I am now wondering how life will be after the pandemic. Will we be mindful, thoughtful and as tight knit as we have become while struggling through the same challenges, globally? Or will everyone simply bounce back to the norm before the storm…that has swept the entire planet to its current state? Just thinking out loud. But really, in San Francisco we are in the final weeks of the best weather, before the summer dense fog shrouds the city for the next three or four months.  So, I did some walking across the city again, while snapping photographs of the springtime blooms throughout. Then worked in my garden – which I’d been avoiding due to severe allergies in my family – but I have to say, it was the most invigorating as plans to revamp …

Travel: Virtual Tours of National Parks

I’ve not written much about travel – although aching to. But, I wanted to be mindful of the struggles some of us have wanderlusting. But these virtual tours are the best the industry has come up with to keep us going and so I decided to share – for those who happen to be missing a visit to your favorite national park. Happy Friday! If not – make it happy {featured image source and full credit}

State of Mind For This Thursday

I stayed in bed this morning, and went back to sleep. I guess my body was telling me I needed to slow down or take a few moments to simply relax. I it seemed the universe was sensing my need, because all of a sudden, out of nowhere I heard classical music. So I finally opened my eyes to see where the beautiful rendition was coming from.  Naturally discovering from my phone – in case you must know , it was Symphony no 3 in F, Op. 90:2 Andante performed by Berliner Philharmoniker & Claudio Abaddo – making me feel as if I’d woken up in a field of Spring flowers, and a dozen or more butterflies fluttering all around. It actually was a nice change to my usual quiet crawl out of bed at 4 in the morning to relieve my dog and feed him, and jump on the computer for work – since I’m part of a global software company – we tend to redefine normal work hours. The idea of waking up …

Food: Dinner Tonight – From Taco to Chicken Skewers

I spent the entire morning in line, plus grocery shopping with not much luck in finding everything in one store. What I dislike the most about this sort of shopping experience, is that it is difficult to stick to a menu for the week, like I used to when I trekked over to my favorite Trader Joe’s and picked up the same proteins, plus the ingredients for my weekly, taco, pasta, chicken, seafood, salad and soup dish.  Not complaining hopefully, just painting the picture. Anyway, while stuffing my freezer with all the things I bought  on “I think I might need,” since we can’t just run to the store anymore on a whim to pick up missing ingredients, I had trouble settling on what’s for dinner tonight.  So, I’ve included my first and second choices just in case one stands out over the other 😉 Option One – If you are craving chicken Option two – Taco for any day of the week and then some     {recipe and photo source} {featured image source}
