Around the World – In Soccer That Is

I feel as though the World Cup 2018 snuck up on me this year – I suppose since having been away for a few weeks, I think I’ve lost track of all sorts of events.  But nevertheless, I have established who I want to see win this year – but for the moment I will keep it to myself.

So, I figured if you are a fan of soccer or the true football (outside the U.S) that you might enjoy these amazing shots of all things football:

This picture taken on October 1, 2014 shows youngsters playing football on a floating football pitch in Koh Panyee, in Thailand’ southern Phang Nga province. With its stunning limestone cliffs towering over stilt houses surrounded by azure waters, the island of Panyee is a typical Thai paradise. But it’s not mother nature drawing tourists here — it’s a floating football pitch. Thailand’s tourism industry has taken a battering this year following months of protests, the May military coup, the subsequent imposition of martial law and the brutal September slaying of two British holidaymakers on the popular tourist haunt of Koh Tao. Somali people play football in the smoky air due to burning litters at the destroyed and abandoned secondary school since 1991, in Mogadishu, Somalia, on June 7, 2018. – Playing football, nothing could be simpler. Around the world and whatever the landscape. Perched on top of an Asian skyscraper, lost on a dusty trail in the middle of the majestic mountains of Nepal or nestled at the foot of an ancient aqueduct in Rome, the pitch takes on many forms and is adapted to its environment. Atletico Diritti was created in September 2014 when two Italian NGOs, Associazione Antigone and Progetto Diritti, concerned with protecting the rights of prisoners, refugees and migrants, had the idea of trying to further the cause of human rights, and most specifically the values of integration and anti-racism, through sport. / AFP / FILIPPO MONTEFORTE (Photo credit should read FILIPPO MONTEFORTE/AFP/Getty Images)

Children play football after the inauguration ceremony of the new technology pitch installed at Mineira favela in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 10, 2014. 200 self energy supplied Pavegen panels, invented by British Laurence Kemball-Cook, were installed underground to capture kinetic energy created by the movement of the football players. The energy is stored and combined with solar panels’ energy to illuminate the pitch during the night. The new technology pitch was created by oil giant Royal Dutch Shell. 1. Hi There!

I love all your posts! Wanted to say what an especially awesome one this is, it tells you in a quick summary so much that you don’t know about how people in the rest of the world live, and in the context of the World Cup.

    Thanks for this!
