Movies Worthy Of a Conversation

I am always asked about my opinion or take on a film because of this blog I’ve had for years and the fact, I know a few like-minded folks about the industry – where we sit around and discuss all things films and the making of. Since we are two months away from the award season, I decided to make a list of films I plan to see that may – just may – have a chance to be nominated. But none has had the buzz so far like the film Lady Bird, which I made a point to go see yesterday. And I have to tell you – it is a must. Funny thing is – most people haven’t even heard of the film, which is fine – some folks have more serious concerns to deal with in their lives, I understand. But if you happen to need an escape, or a face to face with a bit of reality or a trip down memory lane, or even the struggles of motherhood is your …

Travel: Quick Getaways No Matter Where You Are In the World

My friends who live in the UK have decided to go to Italy for a few days, over the Thanksgiving holiday. I found this news amusing, only because while we, in the continental U.S. plan for family get-together across the country for Thanksgiving, she and her husband plan to do a weekend getaway. And then I realized, all the Americans living abroad, or calling a part of the world their temporary home, whether for work or school or just because, there are wonderful opportunities to plan a quick getaway and see…

Lifestyle: Looking At the Bright Side of Things

In speaking with a few important people in my life, I realized the other day, that I do a lot of talks of encouragement and positive thinking when helping to ward off the insecurities we all feel once in a while or sometimes even all the time. I appreciate trends in makeup but I hardly veer from my simple application techniques – because I always strive to look the most natural. Recently I have a to-go power I use on the weekends over a simple hydrating, SPF face cream, and that’s it. On weekdays I apply the mascara and blush and a light lip gloss and I am ready for my day. But in case, you are curious or interested in different approaches to the regiment or daily routine – then here’s some interesting insight on the subject matter: {featured image source}

Food: Dinner Tonight – Salmon Sicilian Style

Salmon is a must in my household. At least once a week and although I love my simple oven-baked variation with ginger, sliced lemon and olive oil – I occasionally crave a more robust flavored variation – like this wonderful recipe from here: INGREDIENTS 4 salmon fillets extra virgin olive oil, for rubbing juice from 1 lemon 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 teaspoon paprika kosher salt and pepper 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets 1 cup cherry tomatoes 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano zest from 1 lemon splash of white wine 1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives {more}

Travel: All Things Paris

I’ve been to Paris nearly every single month of the year – except December and January and in 2018 I am adding to my bucket list to experience my favorite place on earth at least the month of December – right before and during all the holiday festivities. In the meantime, here’s what I have learned recently…
