Travel: America Made

I enjoy tourists – especially the ones that arrive in San Francisco in October – because they are well-travelled enough to know October and early November is the ideal time to visit the city. The ones that make the trip across any body of water tend to plan an entire trip across the country. And then there are the locals who consider a weeks long trip to somewhere USA. For that here’s what I offer up:

Sunday Morning Reads

Seems the air quality in the Bay Area is slowly getting back to normal – and the sun is out – which has me wondering if I should step outdoors and do a bit of walking along the coast. Which is my normal routine on Sundays except the past three weeks or so – due to the poor air quality as a result of the Napa/Sonoma fires. But it is a slow start – meaning to say, I naturally got online with my cup of mint green tea and found these to share – with those intending to have a lazy Sunday:

Travel: Scottish Lodging for the Winter Traveler

There is a list of lodge recommends from here that might be worth your while if you are planning a trip to this beautiful country during the winter months. Consider the following: Log Cabins in Skye Ness Castle Lodges, Inverness Cameron Lodge, Loch Lomond Loch Lomond Waterfront Lodge, Balmaha Piper Dam near Dundee for Hagmanay festivities Braes Lodge, Aberfeldy Taymouth Marina, Kenmore The quiz of the day: If you have fallen inlove with Edinburgh like I have then take this quiz to see which neighborhood you fit in. I got Marchmont/Morningside – not complainin’ I’m good with that.

Food: Healthy Snacks I Load Up On

Snacking is something I do more often on a stressful or a super busy day. I suppose it’s because I burn more energy. The worst is I crave sugar, and in our office, there is a bowl of mini-candies all over the place. I used ot head right to them, but now, I avoid them like the plague and bring my own snacks from this helpful list I found:  I usually pair up the almonds with an apple – or Hummus and cauliflower, which does  wonders to your tastebuds, Eggs and Avocado is my favorite and asparagus just by itself.

Food: Dinner Tonight – Spinach, feta, rosemary, pine nuts mini-pies

I love how everyone has added a certain twist to  my Mediterranean background traditional dishes and in some cases it’s worked just fine, others it was a total disaster. This mini-pie recipe is something I’ve appreciated for a while now and will make a batch for dinner, with a side of plain yogurt for dipping. At least that’s how I roll. 🙂 RECIPE 2 tbsp olive oil 1 onion, finely chopped sea salt & freshly ground black pepper 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 teaspoon cumin 1/2 tsp ground coriander 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup currants 1/4 cup pine nuts 240g washed and dried baby spinach (a salad spinner is good for this) 1-2 tsps lemon juice 150g feta, crumbled 500g ready rolled shortcrust pastry sheets 1 egg, whisked 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Travel: Best Breakfast in San Francisco Past the Tourist Trap

San Francisco is an easy city to explore on foot, or a bus, or Uber or any means to get past all the tourist areas and the best way to plan it, is to start out with breakfast to some of my favorite and tested spots  in my city and the rest of the list of many others I plan to explore eventually:

Autumn Decor and Halloween

I realized just yesterday while walking to my car from an appointment and the drive home, that folks have already begun to decorate their homes for Fall/Halloween.  I use / because some of decor has nothing to do with the actual not-so-holiday day. But rather an expression of their joy to welcome the beautiful season upon us – past all the natural disasters of late.
