Travel: Paris Is Always A Good Idea…

words in quote by Audrey Hephburn, is probably the best way to sum up why I can never stay away from Paris. We took the Eurostar from London and in three hours arrived in the heart of the city to spend four glorious days revisiting most everything we had done before. At first, the weather app indicated much rain so we spent an hour on the train deciding what we would do each day and even each hour to avoid getting soooo wet.  But lucky for us the skies cleared up and the sun came out and the rest was a memorable history:

Food: Irish Burrito?

We took the Eurostar from London to Paris for a five day visit – and as I sat in my hotel room to play catch up with my blog, I noticed this bit of wonderfulness. And since it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day – I figured you wouldn’t mind me adding it here just in case after all the ‘celebrating’ ahem drinking,  a burrito is in order. 🙂

Travel: Day 3 – Cotswolds

When I was in my late teens I happened to be walking past a street artist at an art festival who had on display photographs or lithographs of the Cotswolds. I stopped and talked to this man for about an hour, mostly discussions about his style of capturing art, and a little about the time he lived in the region. He was an American, and I ended up buying four framed pictures at fifteen US dollars a piece of the most beautiful cottages and street scenes I have ever seen since my days of marveling over perfectly bound European children’s fairytale books. Since then I told myself I would someday go to  ‘Cotswolds’, thinking it was a town. Until this year when I got serious about traveling through the English countryside did I learn that the Cotswolds is not a specific town but rather a number of counties in south central England, in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. That the beauty of the area is its rolling hills, medieval villages, churches and homes built of region specific yellow …

Travel: Day 2 – Bath, Somerset, England

After my numerous heart attacks, and white knuckles and the urge to throw up at every roundabout craziness known to  (most of) the world as driving on the wrong side of the road, plus  in our case, through the winding countryside roads in rain and high wind getting to Bath from Stratford-Upon-Avon, we finally arrived at ten in the morning and parked our car in the paid parking lot – hoping to grab breakfast and then sightsee about the town. My friend who lives in the ‘said town’ two hours from Stratford, was irritated to say the least, since this was the first time she drove outside of her comfort zone in rain and wind. Let it be known she is a temporary transplant from US to UK. Also note here that the last time I was in Bath was twenty years ago. So you can imagine my surprise seeing a town transformed into a modern version of what I had seen several decades ago. The first change was the added  boutiques and shops along …

Travel: All About Off Season

I found a great airfare online early February and decided to book my flight – to leave a month later. I just couldn’t resist the price, and later when booking my hotels I found the same perfect deals. I was excited and couldn’t wait to pack and leave the US for a three-week journey to the UK mostly and a few days in Paris. I arrived on the 3rd to London and was cheaffeured to friend’s house in a town an hour and half away from the Heathrow. Although I was very tired from the eleven hour overly warmed aircraft for the comfort of only those that love a stuffy space to sleep, I looked forward to the conversation I had with my driver. Don’t get me wrong I am not a snob in any sense of the word, and a cheaffeured drive is a norm to get me to the said town, my friend would rather I leave unnamed. Friday was a rest day, because early morning on Saturday we would drive to Stratford-Upon-Avon our …

Lifestyle: Where In Italy Should You Actually Live

I was on the bus the other day and while thumbing through my iPhone, I noticed an add about a book published in 2012, titled Turning Tuscan: A Step-by-Step Guide to Going Native and as you know I had to see what this is all about. I ordered the paperback and until it arrives for me to dive right into about the dream I have of living abroad somewhere, I share  with you places I have been and: Where In Italy Should you Live 🙂
