Travel: European Cities To Add To Your Travel Plans

I just got back from my annual trip to Europe in May, and I am already thinking about planning the next one. This year, my travel partner and I decided to change it up a bit, adding a few new destinations, seeking some adventure.  We opted for Lisbon, Porto, Edinburgh, back to Madrid, then through the norm, the French Rivera, and ending up in Paris. And I have to say it was the best decision we made. Based on the article here, I would like to say that I have to agree with Porto, Salzburg, Seville, Edinburgh, Bruges, Verona being underrated destinations, but most definitely places worth seeing and exploring. As for the rest of the places on the list, I need to add to my list of places to see. The problem is, I have to wait until 2016.

Is It Bad To Compare Amal Clooney to Jackie Onassis – in fashion that is

I don’t know about you but the first glimpse of George Clooney’s then girlfriend, Amal, and all I could think about was how much she resembled Jackie Onassis.  A modern day version of course.   Same sort of flair I think, and I am seeing more and more each day why George has fallen in love with this mediterranean beauty and brains. Lucky for some of us,  Bazaar has posted some of Amal’s most stylish looks, which naturally I love. Take a look and let me know what you think?

here’s what happened in paris

I end my holidays in Paris, always.Simply because I feel I belong there, and maybe one day I will… Anyway, I stay in the same hotel for a week, near the Arc de Triumph, and on day one hardly leave my room, just sitting at the desk, and writing, while staring at the Eifel Tower and the Arc. It doesn’t get any better than that, I assure you or those who have the same feeling about Paris. Day two I force myself to leave the room, and venture down Champ des Élysée, just strolling towards the gardens, eventually ending up at the Louvre. I always go down inside the main entrance area, and walk about the shops. Just in case you are wondering, I’ve been to the museum countless times, so on my most recent trips to Paris, I decided not to go inside the salons (Salle) to view the artwork, and fascinating artifacts and such. There is a shop right behind the information booth, I realized on this visit, that it was closed, boarded …

madrid, spain to the french riviera

I got too lazy for a few days about blogging. I suppose I am not to be blamed since I have blogged for over six years now, every day, for three different blog sites. I figured I needed a break, some wine, and much touring around. Anyway, after Lisbon we flew to Madrid. This is the first year I decided to fly in between countries to save time, although I hardly call getting to the airport, checking in, waiting around, boarding, waiting on the tarmac, flying, waiting for a gate, being bussed to the gate, getting bags, and leaving the airport saving any time. Madrid was a two-day stop, and only included because my travel partner wanted to visit the Real Madrid Stadium, and I went along for the ride. We stayed in a wonderful brand new five-star property (which I will talk about another time) near the Gran Via – close to everything, even the best of restaurants. On the first day which technically was a half a day since we flew in the …

a day in lisbon, portugal

On our last day, I figured we would see the city, the old-fashioned tourist way.  We left our hotel at 9:00 and walked over to a smoke shop to buy a day pass for the public transport. First train – 15 to Belem – a waterfront town if you will, with an impressive monastery, a monumental discoveries monument, and an impressive forte, several museums housing everything from archeology  to coaches – all worth exploring, and pondering over.  We spent a few hours sightseeing, snapping photographs and learning all about some of Portugal’s history, and yes they do have a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge even though in my opinion its a mixture of the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge. {pointers: If the 15 isn’t working for some strange reason such as the one we experienced, a head on collision with a car, take the 728 bus which runs the same route and gets you there faster I almost feel. Avoid temptation by going into McDonalds. Instead eat Honorato Burger Artisian, afterwards have the …

foggy monday morning in san francisco

Not sure if we hit that ugly foggy season really early this year. The one that blankets the city from sometime in May to August or early September-the longest days of the year, making it gray and too blah to feel inspired.  Anyway, if I were to explain to you in photographs what my mood is, then I’d have to say: {all photo source click here}

friday’s five interesting things online – vol 3

So many articles, almost so little time to read them all. But I make an effort daily, weeding out my favorites. This week’s finds – click on the photographs to be redirected to the articles: Never once I imagined while I strolled through this very corridor of the Palace in Monaco, that once Grace Kelly stood there to be photographed for her wedding. Never once did I imagine this would happen, when I turned over my very first souvenir of the Eiffel Tower and read Made in China. Never once did I imagine an AMERICAN newspaper posting details of the Armenian Genocide on the front page of the paper We never imagine it could really be possible to quit life, and move abroad, or do we? Can you imagine being as rich as the rich?

photography: ocean and sea

All my life I’ve been drawn to water, and have been fortunate enough to live near the ocean for over 30-years of my life-the ocean views from my bedroom window I’ve never once taken for granted. I also spend countless hours taking photographs of the ocean, in different lights, different seasons, years and so on. So, you can imagine my amazement when I stumbled upon this article about photographer Ray Collin’s galant efforts to photograph water in the most enchanting way possible. Click and scroll down here to watch the video of him explaining how he does it. Then click here to access his website. Fascinating is an understatement if you ask me… {click here for photo credit}

friday’s five interesting finds online – vol. one

Here I go again, revamping something I’ve done years ago. Sharing with you all a few interesting finds online. 1. I go to Paris at least once a year, and during my trip I shop at Monoprix for all of my snacks, and bottled water and so on. I actually look forward to doing that. So, here’s a story about Monoprix and how I will never venture out into their basements. Although it is an interesting find: 2. Twenty-Five things I didn’t know about Breakfast at Tiffany’s was an article I stumbled upon while looking up information about George Peppard-at the time the handsome actor who portrayed Holly’s love interest in the film. I was using his portrayal as research for my next novel. Anyway, here are the facts if you are interested. 3. Flight MH370 disappeared nearly a year ago (3/8/2014) and its story the most daunting. Still today, we have no idea what happened, and all of us rely on speculation, although deep down we all have a pretty good idea as to …
