Boutique Hotel Pick – Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron – Salzburg, Austria

I usually wait until mid-March to begin posting my boutique hotel picks. You know at a time when some of begin planning our vacations.  This year I’ve considered including Austria on my agenda since I haven’t been to this lovely destination for over 10 years. In light of my interest, I’ve found a boutique hotel worth mentioning here. And of course since Salzburg is a must stop for me, this is where I want to be – in a fairy tale setting with a modern twist: Does Sound of Music ring a bell to anyone?

Gift Ideas With ‘The Thought That Counts’ in Mind

I giggled at the title of this blog because…I was trying my best to describe this sort of gift ideas for the person who’s got everything and more and needs nothing. And the only gift is the one with the thought that counts. Although if you ask me these are very thoughtful gifts. {featured image photo click here}

Three Netflix Series I Recommend

If you haven’t already seen the three Netflix series I am about to list here, then please consider to add them to your list of shows to see now if you have nothing better to do, or after the holiday frenzy in your household and beyond: First up, for the history buff or someone who simply is intrigued by the royal family – the one in England of course. The Crown is a pretty solid series so far – season 1 – in telling the story of how Queen Elizabeth came to be. Her younger days when she learns how to…uh hmm.. “Queen”  as her husband, Philip Duke of Edinburgh so eloquently puts in one of the episodes. Second, Medici: The masters of Florence – a newly released series in the US on Netflix is certainly worth every penny past episode 1 in detailing the life and times of the Medici family and their mafia-like influence over Florence at the tail end of the Renaissance era. A power drama, with an outstanding cast surely delivering …

Vacation So Far…Rain and More Rain

I’ve never been on vacation in October. Well, maybe a destination wedding. But really that doesn’t count like a genuine two week planned trip to a far away destination. This is truly the first. And it seems the world is going to hell in a hand basket as far as the weather is concerned, and naturally it is all going down while I am travelling through Italy this week. First stop was Rome, landing through the blackened clouds and touching ground to a stormy day in the eternal city. But the hubs and I persevered as we had a schedule to follow. Walking leisurely through a town we love so much. Snapping photographs and then touching them up over an espresso at an outdoor cafe, sitting under heat lamps. Day two was Vatican City, and more rain, and day three some sort of shopping, which is what I planned but ended up just sitting on the Spanish steps for most of the day and enjoyed the freshly cleaned work of art while people watching. It rained …

Fashion: Fall 2016 Trends Which Got Me Thinking

I took this photo from my bedroom window last night. It’s nothing fancy, just capturing the simple signs of Fall just around the corner. Although in San Francisco, this is a reminder that we are heading into our Indian Summer, with crispy mornings, and hot days and even nights for the next few weeks or months depending on what mother nature has in store for us this year. I love this time of the year for so many reasons. From the kids slowly returning to school, to the abundance of clearance sales in most any store of all things summer, to the start of the holiday season decor slowly popping up here and there. Not to forget mentioning, talks about the holidays among family members and friends, and restaurants changing up their menus to include an array of hearty meals and fall-winter desserts and baked goods – oh how I love the smell of pumpkin-spiced anything.  This is the time of year, I settle into a writing-routine, cozied up at home with my dog by …

Boutique Hotel Pick – Castel Fragsburg – Close to Heaven On Earth

I love the wording on the front page of hotel Castel Fragsburg: The wild romanticism of the South Tyrolean Alps and the sensuous charm of the Mediterranean – the Fragsburg is the meeting point of two seemingly opposite worlds that blend to create an unforgettable style of life. Once I read those words, I was in. I had to click my way to finding what is considered to be as close to heaven on Earth destination wonderfully detailed on the hotel’s website. If you don’t believe me, read on: Nestled on a sun-drenched mountainside high above Merano is South Tyrol’s smallest five-star hotel. Crisp alpine air flows down from above, mingling with the glorious Mediterranean sunshine: This historic hunting lodge combines two apparently incompatible worlds into an art of fine living. And there is much more, you’ll just have to click here to read. To top it off, there are naturally photos which have certainly sealed the deal for me.  Believe me when I say, this one is on my list of luxury destinations bucket …

Travel: Past the London Eye There Is This Place…

Past the London Eye there is this place, or rather, there are these places worth a trip, especially if you’ve been to London  and the areas more than once, sightseeing the same – the likes of the Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and even the wax museum of sorts. The discovery begin right… {The source of all photos and article here}
