I have a journal where I log in all the places and things I want to see in my lifetime, as well as some recipes I’ve come up with while commuting home, and a list of must-read books, hopefully I will get around to in between the many other to-do items listed there as well. On one of the pages, I have planned my trip to New England, which is a part of the U.S. I haven’t been – well, if you consider a train ride from Montreal to New York – having been – then I have, over twenty years go. So, the planning has happened, the driving route settled on and the hotels handpicked by yours truly – the only thing left is deciding which season is best for New England travel, because I hear, all seasons are the best season to experience the region. You know what I appreciate the most about traveling across the pond? The opportunity to wander  into an actual bookstore – whether a chain or a tiny corner store – and just thumb through the reads. I can do this for hours and often times end up buying, I kid you not, ten books to read until my next trip. In recent years I’ve fallen in love with the English countryside, which is where I was 20 years ago, dreaming of owning a cottage in England somewhere. I suppose I’ve made full circle. You see twenty years or so ago, I was walking about a street fair in San Francisco, and I noticed a set of photographs taken by a man in a booth aiming to sell them. They were all photographs of the English countryside. I bought four, already framed, and hung them in my home as soon as I walked in through the door – vowing to myself that I needed to see England past London. Two years back, I visited a friend who’d been living there for a while, and asked her to take me around the country – since she drove and I didn’t have the guts to. Friday and It’s a Wrap

What’s your take on the comment, “Friday can’t come soon enough.” I don’t think much of it. To me Friday is just another day leading to the next, in terms of fulfilling  obligations or commitments, sometimes to the point it almost feels like a work day. And then there are those who actually work the weekends. So for the sake of the traditional Fridays leading to a weekend filled with rest and relaxation and all that is fun and play – I ask, what are you doing this weekend? My weekend is leaning heavy towards doing chores, and running too many errands. Hopefully I can insert a walk along the coast, if the weather permits, or a game of tennis in between and a mid-day nap. The highs and lows of this past week were something like this: Low: Had trouble saying my final goodbye to a family pet over the past weekend. Low: Experienced a few reality checks. When I watch a film or a television series, I always feel the need to know the behind the scene stories. Such as, why the actors chose to portray the role, the budget for the film, whether the story is accurate or simply a made up one, and all other trivia to get well-rounded perspective on the experience.
