Lifestyle: Photography Colors To Set The Mood

I took the train from Sacramento to San Francisco on Sunday, after I went up to the area for a small break from the freezing cold temps in my neck of the neighborhood – by the ocean, where its been foggy and ugly, and pretty down depressing with all-time grays. I tend to forget how the weather plays on my mood, and during the summer months in the city,  I find myself not at all inspired. So, I escape once in while in search of sun, green, and colorful flowers. In this case  up to the Sacramento-Roseville area, well technically further into the country, for some sun and to hang out with my favorite dogs – dogsitting. Normally I drive up, but this time I shared a ride with someone going up there, and then took the train back.  Along the way,  I snapped a few photographs. which I enhanced to more dramatic hues and sharpness, again craving colors. I figured these photos would keep me going through the foggy nonsense in San Francisco until early …

Travel: Learning from The Ancient World

I do love history, especially since the information learned helps cope with today’s troubling-troublesome-troubled world.  The most important lessons are those detailing that no matter how advanced civilization is, humanity acts the same when faced with issues that threaten its very existence.  Sad but true. And that’s all I am going to say about this topic. Except if you happen to be one who appreciates history as much as I do, then by all means this travel article is for you.

For The Love of Dogs, or Calling All Dog Lovers

I love my dog to pieces like most dog-owners do. I consider him or rather he considers himself human, participating in our conversations, and dinner preps, and even expressions while watching  a television program. He is the best at everything he does. My favorite when he snuggles against me the early morning hours, or while I sit up in bed early Saturday and Sunday mornings, typing away at my novels.  You get my point. This man, took his love of his dog to a whole new level only the photographs below can explain 🙂 and then some:

Photography I Can Only Imagine Taking

I have taken thousands of photographs in my lifetime. Most of them, as expected, while travelling.  They are great photographs that I cherish, and often  thumb through  in albums, and on my computer to feel inspired or simply to reflect on events gone by. So you can imagine how much I appreciate travel photographs taken by others, especially those I was unable to snap with my camera, even though at the time I wondered how I can get up there and snap that photo. Here are  some photos  I can pretty much imagine the exact location where the photographer stood to snap these amazing pictures.

Travel: Bordeaux, France

I included Bordeaux a few years ago on one of my trips to France. But only because I was travelling by train at the time, and didn’t want to take long-haul train rides from Spain into France. So I used Bordeaux as a hub, spending only a day or two in a small hotel in the outskirts of the city. My loss I gather from this article detailing (just in time mind you because I was considering bypassing France on my next trip to Europe) eight reasons why we need to consider Bordeaux. {photo source}

photography: ocean and sea

All my life I’ve been drawn to water, and have been fortunate enough to live near the ocean for over 30-years of my life-the ocean views from my bedroom window I’ve never once taken for granted. I also spend countless hours taking photographs of the ocean, in different lights, different seasons, years and so on. So, you can imagine my amazement when I stumbled upon this article about photographer Ray Collin’s galant efforts to photograph water in the most enchanting way possible. Click and scroll down here to watch the video of him explaining how he does it. Then click here to access his website. Fascinating is an understatement if you ask me… {click here for photo credit}
