designer shoes: fall 2011 preview
Shoes, what can I say, one of my weaknesses, although I remain sensible each year in my purchase of shoes, I cannot help but admire what I have seen so far for fall 2011. What do you think?

I had forgotten how important a child’s graduation is to parents, until of course, I received am email invite a while back to attend one this coming weekend. So, I am excited to report that I am off to catch a flight across the country, so that I can attend the college graduation ceremony for two of my favorite people in the world. Congrats to you both. My dears, your hard work has truly paid off and you have made your parents very proud. 🙂 Have a truly nice weekend everyone!!!
Since I work in the financial district of a metropolitan city and live in the suburbs, I often times cannot decide whether I prefer the view of the high rise buildings from my office window or the view of the ocean from my bedroom window for my future apartment. It’s a tough choice, but one I need to make up my mind about, if I plan to move out by the end of this year. Help…
It has been an interesting week to say the least. With work and having to shop for all the necesaties for the condo project. I simply wanted to get the shopping out of the way so I can spend the entire weekend painting, cutting, pasting, well you get the point. Although I enjoy this type of challenge, last night I finally felt extremely tired from all the running around. So, I decided to escape online and find some of my favorite photos of home decor I would love to incorporate into my own fantasy loft. Click on photo to see more. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend.
Just in case you are scratching your head with the title, I must explain why I chose it. You see, I have a weird appreciation for painting various areas of a home and feel painting should be a pleasure rather than a chore. I love discussing the options, I enjoy chosing the paint color, the brushes and various other gadgets to handle the project and most of all I truly enjoy rolling up my sleeves and diving right into it. However, when the actual project begins, the fun can sometimes turn into a sad occassion, especially when you realize the outcome isn’t as wonderful as you had hoped. Take for example our attempts to paint the kitchen cabinets. Although we spend several hours consulting with the paint experts at Home Depot (in this case) and followed their suggestions on how to proceed, the mid-way result has been a bit worrysome to say the least. We were told to prime the cabinets and then paint over them. Which made sense. We were also told that High Gloss looks the …
A funny thing happened to me or perhaps not so funny, depending on how I look at it. I inherited the project of renovating or sprucing up a condo for a friend, who intends to sell it as quickly as he can. Now, as we all know, the home prices have plummeted in the U.S. and we are still in the midst of the real estate crisis (even if we are told the market has picked up or is moving upward) it is still very difficult to sell or buy a home in the U.S. these days, condos are even worse. Based on this fact, his concern was, being able to renovate without putting alot of money into the condo, so that he can make a small profit, if any. After finding out his budget, I gladly took on the project and suggested we do most of the work ourselves in order to meet his financial commitment. He agreed 🙂 Based on this new adventure I have embarked on, I decided to periodically share with …
One year ago, I decided to start a blog different than my other blog here. I dabbled at first at another blogger site and after a few entries and not knowing which direction I wanted to go, I opted to join the WordPress family to get inspired. Sure enough, within a week I knew what I wanted to write about and quickly imersed myself into the project. One year later, here I am with over 50,000 hits worldwide and several hundred, subscribed loyal followers. Not bad if you ask me for a years worth of work. However, I hope year two will inspire me enough to keep the blog alive and fresh for my readers and for myself. I want to thank everyone for encouraging me to continue and praising me for a job well done. I can honestly say, if it weren’t for this blog, I would probably be working at Starbucks to get my pop culture on 🙂 With sincere appreciation, your truly Manya
The amount of time I spend flipping through magazines and online sites for home decorating ideas, you would think I was an interior designer. But no, I am simply an admirer and extreme follower of the trade. The most appealing aspect of interior decor that I discovered is, most anything is doable, if the pieces create a livable space. Unusual is fine, colors are great and mix and match is always the in thing. That is at least from where I am sitting :). So, you won’t be shocked if I admitted to the fact, I am a fan of modern vintage decor and here are some photos of my favorite living room, which I found here
I needed a little pick me up this past weekend and since the weather wasn’t giving me any inspiration to be outdoors, because it was unusually cold, I let my fingers do the walking through the Bloomingale’s online catalog. I found a few pieces which immediately put a smile on my face and although not all of them are designed for this woman over 40, I still appreciate their originally and sex appeal. Ever since I downsized my lifestyle (last year), I must say I am the most content person as far as my living space. Just to help you understand, I went from a 3300 square foot home in the country to a 597 square foot studio apartment in the city. So you can imagine that while settling into this new lifestyle, at first I couldn’t help but feel crowded and claustrophobic and in order to survive I kept telling myself it was all temporary until I search for a bigger place. But over the course of the year I grew to love my space and realized it has become the most inspirational place for my creative writing. So I decided to stay another year. However, since I decided to make the studio my home for now, I wanted to personalize the decor. As usual I went to the internet for inspiration and found some photos of suggestions to consider. Let me know what you think?
