Food: Harissa and Coconut Milk, Almonds and Deliciousness

I grew up eating harissa and thought nothing of it. In fact, I hated the texture and taste. Until recently I am finding this grain sold in most grocery stores and on menus in restaurants. Here’s a recipe I can’t get enough of – Harissa, coconut milk, almonds, squash, lentil. My mouth is watering just thinking about dinner tonight. Go here for the recipe

Lifestyle: Healthy Thinking Healthy Being

There is no question about the fact that we all thumb through article after article online on just about everything and sometimes we skim through them and other times we actually stop and read and apply, for example: From Left to right: 1. 15 Foods we should never eat? 2. The two-week body-makeover plan starts here. 3. What Jennifer Aniston does to make 48 look 28 – I am taking notes 4. Loving this detox tea – no matter the season 5. What gynecologists want you to stop eating 6. How to reverse aging – is all we women think about

Food: Sweet Potato Nachos!

I’m on it! Since I have nachos practically once a week. I usually make my own version at home. You know, the typical ground beef or shredded chicken, black bean, Mexican cheese, yogurt instead of sour cream, diced tomatoes and green onions. We love it!  It’s easy, quick and a fun meal. Love the crunchy taste of the tortilla chips against all the mushiness on top. Better than pizza (wait) I have to think about that one. Anyway, somehow, someway this SWEET recipe popped up online the other day, making my mouth water, and my eyes light up with excitement, because I love a twist on anything traditional: This is worth an OMG!

Interesting Finds Online – Vol 6

I’ve sort of lagged off on this topic for the sake of other variations of putting all similar topics into one entry  rather than a mix-match of topics. But then I realized since our brains are now programmed to wander off here and there clicking on links to read this and that, I should revisit my interesting finds online. Vol 6 goes something like this: 1. Ten products that promises to transform your hair, nails and skin while you sleep! 2. I don’t know about you, but I do admire Jennifer Aniston the most from her generation of actors who managed to set a standard for the rest of us to follow, in terms of looking and feeling this good. {photo source} 3. Five low-maintenance house plants is something I came across just in time, needing to refresh my studio apartment potted plants. 4. Here’s a suggestion for 20 lunches you can make over the weekend – although I do worry about how long freshly cut vegetables will last – but I am going to …

Travel: San Francisco’s Finest Bars

I sometimes forget that I live in one of the most amazing cities on the planet, and that we too have the best of restaurants, and bars to add to your must-try list when you come hang out in my fair city. Now, although I have sampled  on a personal level a handful or so of these pubs, and planned many company happy hours around town, with the venue always being a different bar, I have to say this list of ‘Ten San Francisco bars where the cocktails are so good’ has sparked my curiosity to venture out a bit further then the norm. See for yourself what I mean 🙂

Food: Mediterranean Cooking Surely A Hit

Mediterranean cooking is what I grew up with and one I cherish and consider the best of healthy foods. Recently I’ve been asking my mother to teach me all that she knows about our home cooking, and then I find ways to tweak those recipes – meaning to say – finding ways to shortcut my way through the meal prep.  In case you are not familiar, Mediterranean cooking is very time-consuming. With that said, I found an interesting site here which has a few of my favorite Medi-dishes, although a little different then the traditional style, still pretty tasty:
