Travel: All About The Canary Islands, Spain

Right about now, while freezing in San Francisco, I crave tropical. And naturally begin  my typical research for somewhere to escape. Recently, well, maybe a month or so ago, I saw a film   on Netflix that was not only entertaining and funny, but it was  filmed in the Canary Islands.  Somewhere I’d never been before. I love when a movie delights me – in terms of decor and location.  The last time I was this intrigued was when I saw ONLY YOU with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. which was filmed in when it was filmed all throughout Italy. Anyway, so because of the film, I did some digging for tourist information and without any more babbling, here are some facts – just in case you are looking for that perfect Honeymoon or anniversary celebration destination:   High Season (Dec–Apr & Jul–Aug) Coincides with Christmas, carnival season and Easter Accommodation prices are highest in January and February Mid-summer is holiday time on the Spanish mainland, so expect more tourists July and August are the …

Boutique Hotel Pick – Belmond Hotel Splendido – Portofino, Italy

A decade ago my hubs and I embarked on a trip to Italy. One town in particular was to Genoa in hopes of finding Portofino. Instead we stumbled upon Rapallo and all other small beach towns in the area. Which wasn’t a bad thing, but I was sad that I didn’t see this beautiful waterfront setting I had first set my eyes on when I received a stack of travel brochures at the travel agency to promote. So, I vowed while at the airport waiting for my flight back to San Francisco, that I would return to Italy and find Portofino. Years later, When we decided to revisit Italy, I decided to do deep research and discovered that besides the train to Rapallo, we needed to take a bus to actually reach Portofino,  and so we did and found the gem of a place to this day I still can’t get enough of. And in honor of portofino and our wonderful walks about the small town and the best focaccia  ever, here’s a boutique hotel …

Travel: Picturesque Small Towns In Italy

My mother gives me a look every time I tell her I am going to Italy. She thinks I’ve explored the country way too much, not realizing that there is more, much more to this wonderful destination. And to prove it, I have listed some of the smaller towns I plan to explore the second I have enough guts to drive a car there:

Boutique Hotel Pick – L’Albergo della Regina Isabella – Ischia, Italy

This hotel I found, when I did my daily ritual of reading about my celebrity crush – Gerard Butler. Who is currently in Italy attending a festival of sorts and then some. I’ve been to Italy a million times, but have never ventured to Ischia. The most has been Capri.  So, it’s wonderful to discover and based on all that I have read about this wonderful destination – I am definitely in!

Travel: Boutique Hotels Around The World With Views

I love spending time in my hotel room while travelling, so it is very important for me to book one that offers some views – of  the city or water, or mountains. Huge windows, and even a balcony if I can pull it off. My favorite of all hotels so far has been the Westminster in Nice, in an Ocean view room. Just in case you feel the same way as I do, here’s a list of 13 hotels with fascinating views:

Travel: List of Best New Hotels 2017

I love a new hotel, or the experience of it. My hubs and I got to experience such a wonder in Madrid Spain a few years back – staying in a beautiful hotel that had opened for one a week. The service was amazing, the amenities over the top, and even complimentary drinks were offered on their rooftop bar. We loved the experience, and most of all, loved the fact, we paid half the price since the property was so new. In line with this topic, I am sharing a few of the hotels I plan to experience from a Conde Nast Traveller list of best new hotels 2017: {Featured: Taylor’s River Lodge, Crested Butte, Colorado}

What’s Got Me Interested This Morning

This week feels like it’s dragging on – or – maybe I’m taking a break from being productive. Who knows – except that I am spending way too much time online letting my brain to simply escape. I mean we all need that once in a while right? So here’s what got me interested this morning over a bowl of cereal and a cup of jo.     1. This article about one of Venice’s finest hotels – which are three buildings that were constructed over several centuries? Now that’s what I call architectural character. 2. One of my favorite actress, Jessica Chastain got married over the weekend to a handsome and debonair Italian count, she’s been dating for five years. I love a romantic nuptial and this is probably the best since George and Amal.  But what got me most interested was the location they chose in Italy. 3. Then I got sidetracked about introducing color into your home. Something I am helping a friend to consider in her rental property with bland white …
