decor: studio apartment living

I downsized my life about five years ago, leaving the suburbs, moving back to San Francisco, and loving every second of open concept studio apartment living. It’s funny how much we accumulate over the years, furnishing rooms and every wall almost unnecessarily. When all we need are the basics, and simplified decor. Sharing with you some of my favorites from here:

friday’s five interesting finds online – vol. 2

We are definitely on information overload. So much so, that we can’t keep up with everything we see, read, or even consider learning from things popping up, flashing, and rotating on the computer screen anytime we log in to get online. This week, these five things stuck in my mind: 1. A Ghost town in suburban Paris. The story of how an airport was forced to buy a town by a decree, and was instructed to upkeep it. Here’s the article: 2. Stanford University decided parents making less than 125K a year will not have to pay their child’s tuition. Read the article here: 3. The Trevi Fountain in Rome is closed for renovation. But don’t worry the city has made sure you have an opportunity to toss a coin no less. See the video here: 4. Siena, Italy, Duomo of Sienna, an incredible church I visited a few years back, the floors were covered. This year in July 2015 for the expo, they will be uncovering the floors. What a site to see I …

parisian wall decor for sure

Right about now I get the urge to visit my favorite place in the world, and I start planning my annual trip for early Autumn to Paris of course!  Just last night while I surfed the net, I came across this article about wall murals you can buy and install in your home to get reminders of the amazing city.  Of course I had to order a few 🙂  See below. You can also check out the rest here.

start to a new week

First week of 2015, and I’ve already got a full calendar. Our company/ San Francisco office is going to be remodeled in the next three months and so we have to pack away the old and prepare for the overhaul, moving around offices and cubicles in stages until each section of the floor is updated. It’s exciting in a way to see what the plan is, which until now has been kept a secret, and although I love where I currently sit, with western views of San Francisco, I am happy to see the new spot I will be moving to.   In the middle of the work chaos, I have to take a road trip to help a friend move across the country. This bit I am looking forward to, as I get a chance to see new places travelling by automobile, and be able to capture some interesting photographs and stories to share. And finally, I am excited that book three is going through a final edit, and has lots to do with Scotland. …

boutique hotel pick – relais and chateaux hotel heritage – bruges, belgium

It’s been a while since I’ve suggested a boutique hotel – a blog entry I’ve put aside for a while, focusing on other topics instead. But since I am an avid traveler, always longing to get on a plane to go somewhere, at times more or less on a whim, I decided to bring this popular entry back, even throughout the off-season in travel. The city of Bruges, in Belgium came to mind recently since I normally crave to be in a storybook type of place in the winter months, hibernating in a room with character, a fireplace if possible, hot tea at my disposal, the ambiance exuding enough energy to inspire me to write at the very least, the romance portion of my novels. In Bruges, I would stay in Relais and Chateaux Hotel Heritage, and although there isn’t a fireplace in the rooms, the character and charm of each space make it a wonderful destination for romance I could go on forever, detailing bits and pieces of information about this romantic town, but …

travel: amazing world we live in

The wealth of knowledge about travel is endless, thanks even more now to the internet. I remember when I used to check out books and encyclopedia at the public library to learn about the world, the wonders and the exciting tidbits. Now everything is just a click away, one article leading to the next, delighting me to no end, educating and challenging my brain  – I love it. Here’s the latest interesting articles that got me going:
