filmed in san francisco: happy birthday to gerard butler

I am a fan of the man. The man behind the mask, behind a beard, behind an Irish accent, a killer in a role, a lover, a hero, on land and on the water. A preacher, a soccer player, anything goes. And while I was researching for book 3 – which I’ve been working on diligently to have ready by February 2015, I stumbled upon this video, pausing to take it all in.  It was filmed in San Francisco, I know exactly where, since I stalked the shoot, naturally 🙂 It’s wonderful  to see the finished product. Anyway, enjoy for all of you Gerard Butler fans, or not. Happy birthday to the man of today! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs_wFbECVws

actors: then and now in relation to the woman over 40

Every year around my birthday, I somehow end up looking at photographs of myself and wonder if I’ve aged for the better or not?  If that makes sense to anyone else. This year I decided instead of worrying about how I’ve aged or aging, to shift my attention to some of Hollywood’s iconic celebs who are now in their 40s. Let me know what you think – Have they aged for the better or worse?

creative gala gowns for the red carpet

Since I follow the red carpet fashion trends, I have noticed most celebrities have conformed to a uniform look just so they could pass the fashion police critique.  While that is acceptable, it seems they have compromised a sliver of their bold and daring creative side, at least in my opinion. I hope this year is a little different and we can actually see a little bit of daring and unique fashion like the ones I have picked out below.

50 shades of grey casting qualifications

I am going to go out on a limb here and discuss 50 Shades of Grey  book/almost turned movie since I am a movie buff. (Ladies please don’t get offended, this is just for fun) Since there are 32Million copies of the book sold plus 14 translations, I am more than certain the book is a hit among, well mostly women. So, with that said, I have voiced my two cents worth here about the casting of Mr. Grey.   Please read here and let me know what you think? Should Ryan Gosling play the lead role or do you have  a better actor in mind and why?

the aftermath of the film mirror mirror

I take film watching very seriously as we know it here and so, before anyone judges, I have a few things to say about the film Mirror Mirror and it’s impact on me (a woman over 40). First, let’s clarify, the film, is really not one to run to the movie theater for, but outside of that fact and of course in my opinion, it is a comedic take on a middle-aged woman’s struggles to stay desirable and loved in the world of the “Snow Whites” (meaning the younger woman). Subliminal, the message may be, I couldn’t help but walk away feeling nothing but sorry for the “Evil” step mother, who seemed misunderstood  and mostly lonely, in this version of The Snow White story.

and the oscar goes to…everyone if it were left up to me for 2012

You know what I hate about the competitive world? It’s that we have to always crown a single winner from a list of the best. Well, since that is the case, I am having a difficult time accepting that there could  only be one winner per category for this year’s Oscars. I mean if you happen to be a film buff, like myself, you tend to question,  how Clooney’s performance was better than Brad Pitts and that Jean Dujardin may beat both of them as a result of his performance in The Artist Can we actually say Viola Davis was better than Meryl Streep or Glen Close, even when young actresses like Michelle Williams and Rooney Mara did an outstanding job in their roles as well? And how about Christopher Plummer and Kenneth Branagh or Nick Nolte for that matter, and should  Jonah Hill really be included in the running for Best Actor in a Supporting role right alongside those seasoned actors? Seriously, is Martin Scorsese  more talented  than Woody Allen, or is Hugo a …

gowns for a make shift oscar party

I am fortunate enough to be on an event planning committee at my current place of employment,. So, when asked for venue suggestions, I immediately blurted out an Oscar themed event to honor our employees. The suggestion  was approved and so here we are now in the planning stages for our red carpet event scheduled for the end of February. While we contemplated  considering formal attire, the joke was, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the women could all wear gowns. Of course, being a fan of anything that has to do with the entertainment industry, I immediately went to my favorite site here and picked out what I would wear if I were to walk down the red carpet at the make shift Oscar party. Impressive huh?

i don’t know how she does it – with sarah jessica parker

Well I couldn’t pass up writing about the film I Don’t Know How She Does it, because being a multi-tasking woman myself, I sometimes ask myself “I Don’t Know How I Do It” and I am sure many of you do as well. Finally, and I repeat, finally a film about the realities of a working woman’s life in America and most any where else in the world embracing the same lifestyle as we do here. Anyway, without saying much, watch the trailer so you can see where I am coming from and considering it is Sarah Jessica Parker in the starring role, I am certain the film will put a dent at  the box office. What do you think, will you see the film?

classic actors in common, from my point of view

I am a movie fanatic and a complete junky of the entertainment world. What can I say, now you all know my weaknesses 🙂 So, as a child,  when I got introduced to film, I began to envy my mother’s generation, because of all the gentlemanly leading men in cinema. I secretly fell in love with a few of them even though they were old enough to be my father or grandfather. When  I was in my 20’s and 30’s, it seemed as if  there was a gap in the entertainment industry as far as having “gentlemenly” leading men. I just didn’t think anyone could step up to the plate to those from the classic Hollywood film era. But in the last decade or so I have discovered that, I too have reached a point in life, where I can honestly say I am proud to have known  a few classic and “gentlemenly” actors  from  my generation. Here is the list ladies and gentlemen, let me know what you think?
