Final Thoughts From My Holiday Abroad

I took a flight from London Heathrow on Sunday, leaving my heart behind for so many reasons. I have to say too many to list here. But most of all for the wonderful time I had with a good friend of mine, touring England, Scotland and a little of France – Paris to be exact. Three weeks ago, I was beside myself, looking very forward to the trip she and I planned – considering we’d both been travel agents in the past, we spend a few weeks beforehand strategizing on how we wanted the trip to flow with minimal stress and maximum enjoyment. Now that the holiday is over, I realize that the time away from home was much-needed for me, so that I can return refreshed and recharged enough to deal with all the ups and downs that life has in store for us in 2017. One of the most important things I decided upon, while talking to my friend throughout the trip, is that, instead of focusing only on the bad that happens …

Food: A Treat for New Years Eve With A Side of Bubbly

Why is it I consider New Years Eve to be a sexy celebration. Perhaps all the glitter, sparkle and bubbly. 🙂 Or just the fact, it is a prelude to a new beginning.  Ponder, ponder. So while I prep the Hors d’oeuvre and pick out the best of champagnes, and the extras to bring in the new year at my home, I can’t help fall in-love with this recipe. Which by the way suits the theme I am going for this year, naturally….paired with champagne:

Focus on the Good of 2016…Is All I am asking

In the past few days with the untimely deaths of a handful of celebrity, people around the world have expressed how they can’t wait for 2016 to be over with since it’s brought nothing but heartbreak and disappointment, just to name a few. There are magazine covers depicting the death of 2016, articles equally heart-wrenching, and then there are the somber reaction tweets streaming across the globe – all of it causing me to shake my head at the mere idea of how we fixate on the negatives most. So I turned to the internet for some positives that happened in 2016 to help everyone understand that along with the bad, there is always some good. We just need to take a step back and reflect and be thankful for all the good the world and the people in it have done NO MATTER THE YEAR. Just in case we’ve forgotten what good came of 2016 this perfectly compiled list and some of my favorites will jar some memories and enlighten those focusing on only the doom …

Long Weekends and Such…

It’s the first of July already? I can’t believe we’ve completed the first half of the year – what I consider is the planning stages for the rest of the year.  Since Jan-Jun most of us are busy getting through winter, kids in school, college prep, proms, or wedding planning for those with adult children, graduations, and vacation planning. Maybe even scheduling a major reno project for the home, a backyard makeover, or simply a move across the country. We pause for a second for the fourth of July weekend here in the US, and then take off again. Well, by taking off I mean, going on vacation, getting the kids off to college, attend a few weddings, prep for the fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and then the potential brutal winters and the Christmas holidays.  A very mundane lifestyle. Anyway, since I am still in the country, I was hoping to drive up to a lake of some sort – Lake Tahoe, Plumas Lake or anywhere  I can be near the water, and enjoy a good …

Sunday Thoughts

I’ve been pretty quiet for the past week…I suppose because life’s obligations has consumed me enough to put aside some things in order to juggle the most important of things.  And then I realized one sleepless night that  RawSilk&Saffron is one of the most important aspects of my life, and it was time I shifted my focus from all of the negative and  determine how far I want to take my site. So I’ve begun discussions with various website hosting companies, and other designers to…update my site to welcome more visitors, and engage on a level, I am too excited about. I am also in the process of putting a solid team together of those interested in contributing to RawSilk&Saffron. Please reach out to me if you are interested. You see there is still so much to do and say here, and I am taking a few more days to finalize the direction I plan to go…so stay tuned if you are a dedicated reader of RS&S, or sign up, if you aren’t.   There …

Happy Blogging Anniversary To Me – 2016

I’ve been blogging for a long time. At first it started as a place I would simply put down my thoughts. You know – kind of like a diary. I signed up with blogger, kept it on a private setting, and just jotted down every thing that was – lets say – eating at me. Until I realized, focusing on the negative wasn’t really making me feel better. So, I launched a second blog, see here, where I began to talk about all things in the entertainment industry.  At the time I was living in Los Angeles, for work of course, and felt since I was going to movie premiers and red carpet events and other wonderful gatherings within the entertainment industry, that movie blogging was it. When I transferred back to San Francisco, I wanted to do more with my blog, especially since my passion is traveling (first) writing (second). So somewhere in there RawSilk&Saffron was born, although I could have sworn it was more than six years ago for this amazing blog. Hmmm …
