Recipe: Fresh Figs, Marcona Almonds and Honey

Fig season is early June, and August to October. But I couldn’t help posting this recipe just in case you are able to find figs in your neck of the woods, right about now 🙂 This recipe calls for fresh figs, Marcona Almonds, yogurt and honey drizzle. Truly food fit for the gods or just me and you.  Something I would pair with a pot of perfectly infused tea on an early Saturday morning when I sit down to write my novel.

Fashion: Springtime Outfit For Weddings and More

First event I will be attending this spring is a bridal shower for a friend of a friend, who is very dear to me.  She invited me to her wedding in June, with a bridal shower scheduled sometime in April. And although it might be too soon… This outfit is what I plant to wear – from head to toe – to her somewhat formal  and whimsical bridal shower.

Lifestyle: What Could 1.3Billion Do?

Most ‘middle class’ Americans have either bought, or considered buying or are on the verge of buying lottery tickets today, with the hopes and dreams of winning the Powerball numbers this evening. The interesting thing is that, every conversation I have been involved in for the past week, had something to do with winning  and plans for spending the money. And out of the hundred or so individuals I spoke with, only a handful mentioned charity or doing something good with some of the winnings. The majority mentioned splurging. Which got me wondering if people truly understood just how much money 1.3 billion dollars really is? Which is best explained with the below quote. So the question I have for all of you. How would you spend the money if you were the lucky (on unlucky according to media) winner?  And if having loads of money doesn’t bring you happiness (according to true accounts in media), will solving the US poverty with your winnings make you happy?  The better question is – will you share …

Travel: America in 2016

This year I am adding a multi-stop trip around the U.S. to see places I’ve never been before in addition to some I have many years ago. And although I haven’t decided which month to embark on this two week journey, I have decided on the added destinations:   {Source}

Art: Selfie Sketch After A Busy Weekend

On Sunday I needed to simply unwind after the busy Friday evening holiday party I hosted/coordinated for 200 guests. The venue Sir Francis Drake – San Francisco. The party was very successful, and the entire evening I was asked to partake in selfies. Which I am not a fan of since I don’t consider myself very photogenic, nor  an expert in taking successful selfies. Anyway, on Saturday it was the same selfie nightmare.  I went for my Super Bowl host training program at the Masonic Center Nob Hill  and one of the exercises was taking a selfie and posting the picture on the Superbowl50 site, as well as hashtag-ing it on Facebook. I did neither for the same reasons. On Sunday, after household chores and grocery shopping, I decided to play with the  new toys I received for Christmas. An entire artists attache (case) from Restoration Hardware, plus a box of crayons, and coloring pencils, watercolors and sketch pads -I suppose someone wants me to reconnect with a hobby I had years ago  – drawing. So …

Fashion: High Rise and Skinny – In Jeans that is

Here’s a pair of jeans I have ordered from here and am currently waiting to see how it will fit my requirements for high-rise plus skinny jeans. I’ve tried them all and since my legs are too shapely 🙂 – I cannot for the life of me wear skinny jeans comfortably or be very comfortable in them. Don’t know why I felt the need to share this bit of detail-on this lazy Sunday morning, but I did. Do you have a favorite pair of jeans?  Come on play along.

Lifestyle: Interesting Finds Online – vol 1

Happy Friday! I say this because we made it through our first work week for 2016. And with that in  mind, I share with you some interesting finds online I stumbled upon at 4:00 a.m. when I woke up suddenly and decided to go over the checklist for the holiday party I am coordinating this evening for our company. So I figured while I run around today, organizing the last-minute details, making sure vendors show up and so on…I leave you with this. {photo credit for happy family}

At The Start of A New Year…

  So much is going on, and in a way I like it. I enjoy busy. A calendar full of events and chores and such, taking up most of January for me. We are starting the new year with a company party, happening this Friday in the city of course, at an old classic hotel near Union Square. Details of which I will mention after the fact. I’ve been busy with the last-minute details, play coordinator-host to a 200 plus gathering of co-workers. The program for the evening cocktails, dinner, raffled gifts and dancing. This is the only time I get to see my co-workers in formal attire. Normally at a software dev company in San Francisco jeans is the norm, a Giant’s cap if you happen to be  a fan, and a funky T-shirt expressing something not offensive to anyone. Saturday I begin my training for the Superbowl 50 volunteer program. Yes, I have volunteered to work during the weeks leading to and including the Superbowl.  San Francisco as you may know plays host …

Fashion: New Year, New Office Look

My picks  from here – which  I’d like to incorporate in my usually casual work-wear. By that I mean, jeans mostly and some sort of layers. Except lately more  sweaters. It’s been cold and rainy in San Francisco this year, and I’m loving every minute of it. But sometimes I wish my job required me to dress up, in this fashion that is:
