In the states, we have Labor Day weekend coming up – first weekend in September, which represents the end to summer and even marks the formal beginning of a school year. This year as we know it, is a bit off (scratch that) a lot off and planning a three-day getaway is probably on the back of everyone’s mind, considering the fires in the west, the hurricanes in the south, and rain in between. But for the sake of mental health, we should make an effort to be outdoors, safely of course, abiding by all the rules – masks, six feet apart, and everything else asked of us to stay healthy. Weekend Recap and Mood For The Week

As promised, I did venture out to San Ramon and Danville (California) to see about new home development sites and while walking through the many 4000 square foot ‘family homes’ I felt no desire to uproot and move out of my old house and into one that felt so not like a place I could call my home. I suppose I love the old, the charming architecture, creaky floors, slanted walls, and my ocean view too much to consider anything but investing in upgrades – electrical, structural and a professional landscape, and a polish on the old hardwood floors.  This is something I am now one hundred percent certain I want to tackle. Well, I know this only applies to the states, the long weekend and all, but the idea that Fall is just around the corner has me wanting to be outdoors as much as possible – before I settle into the comfort of my sofa, watching too much television and doing the much reading I put off all summer long. Fall is a perfect time, in my opinion, to escape to a resort and spa hotel. I think, even though the weather may be a bit brisk and unpredictable, the romance of such a property do more than make up for it. I know I just got back from Italy but, I can’t help think about a weekend escape right before the holidays. My favorite is the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California. I not only enjoy the drive down to Santa Barbara, but once at the hotel, I seldom leave for the entire weekend.
