Decor: A Home in Lake Tahoe, California

One of the perks of living in San Francisco and the bay area is the proximity to all the creativeness that has defined the Internet. One particular, which I use often, is Instagram in all its glory. So, naturally, this article sparked my interest – to see how the man behind the creation has set up his home…in this case, Lake Tahoe, California – which to me is totally in line with the app design. 🙂

Decor: Screened-In Porches For Lazy Summer Days

Screened-in porches are not the norm in California, so when we bought our house in Sacramento a decade ago (and sold it since) – we never considered attaching a porch and so the summer nights, and early mornings were spent indoors just so I wouldn’t get attacked by mosquitoes – since I am very allergic. Which made me often wondered, why have such a perfectly landscaped backyard if I wasn’t able to enjoy the outdoors in the warmer months. Recently, I’ve been considering a renovation project for a home of a friend in the suburbs, about two hours from San Francisco, where a screened-in porch would be ideal – at least for my visits 🙂 Would you consider a screened-in porch or have one you adore?

Decor: Orange Is The Old and The New

During the winter months I crave color – orange is one I’ve come full circle  – in 2002 decorating my bedroom in burnt orange and other lighter hues perfectly extended to throughout other parts of the house, which at the time worked well with the Tuscan exterior style, track home we purchased in Sacramento. Since then, I’ve toned down my colors to more shabby chic tones – grays, stone, ivory, sage, and light blue, as I mentioned here. But while making my rounds on Saturday to here, here, and here, I realize I may need to incorporate an orange accent pillow with my colors scheme. And this one will do just fine to achieve the above bedding ensemble And in case you are equally interested in orange – but not necessarily for the bedroom – here are some great ideas to consider. {photo source}

Decor: Floating House Tour

I live near the water in San Francisco, but have always wondered what it’s like to live on the water. I think this interest was sparked by the film Sleepless in Seattle, where Tom Hanks’s character lived in a boathouse on the water with his son. Since then I’ve always imagined, if not a lifetime, but perhaps a few months living in – say – like this wonderful floating house in Seattle. Wine-cellar included of course:
