Lifestyle: Where In Italy Should You Actually Live

I was on the bus the other day and while thumbing through my iPhone, I noticed an add about a book published in 2012, titled Turning Tuscan: A Step-by-Step Guide to Going Native and as you know I had to see what this is all about. I ordered the paperback and until it arrives for me to dive right into about the dream I have of living abroad somewhere, I share  with you places I have been and: Where In Italy Should you Live 🙂

Decor: Home Library Or Not

Even in this e-this and that age, I still prefer bound books, stacked on a shelf somewhere in the house, giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over (yes I’m aware of the cliche)  But I know you understand what I mean – especially those who enjoy reading as much as I do. Anyway, recently a friend asked me how to turn one of her spare bedrooms into her library where she intends to place just one comfy chair and a lamp, she says so she could just escape. The ideas I shared with her are the following:

Lifestyle: Habits to Consider Making Your Own

I’ve never hit the snooze button in the mornings and wake up the same time every day, even weekends. I insist on having a sit down breakfast, and I walk to the bus and climb stairs from the subway rather than opt for cars and elevators. Hot water in the morning with a slice of lemon gets me going, and listening to nature music helps give my day a calming start – even at work. Although I understand the details I mentioned above of how my life goes may not apply to those with small children or kids who live at home, but even then creating certain habits for yourself in the mornings keeps you in control (says me) and is the best way to start the day says this one article: Get Up Early: The idea of getting up early can make many of us feel tired just thinking about it, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned you should never do in the morning, it’s hit the snooze button. According to a report …

What Is Going Through My Mind Today

I can’t recall a time where I’ve had a peaceful night’s sleep. Meaning to say that I stay up most nights pondering about everything most definitely out of my control, and then I talk myself into  just letting go. I think it’s a survival mechanism. Note to self: Perhaps I need to scale back on social media, it may help a little. But for now, I can’t help but wonder what if….  The US president’s conduct, which the majority don’t agree with is a ploy to get everyone to become more patriotic and more involved in our country? Social media were to shut down on Sundays so that everyone can do all things that make them less angry at every single word published online which has fueled such behaviors lately. Religion was more important than anything else to live a more positive life? What if compassion replaced greed? History and current event teachings in schools were not based on one-sided opinions? What if there was no bullying – ever? What if WORLD PEACE was stitched unto every flag of …

Lifestyle: Online Topics of Interest

I’m always analyzing this thing called life – and often times read up on topics about how the cycle of life takes shape day in and day. Some articles I find myself questioning, others I feel the need to share: So for this day, where some of you may be off work, here’s a list of articles that may be worth a click or two:

Today’s Mood – A Week In The South of France

Happy New Year! I hope the first four days of the year has been on a positive streak for most of you and if not, then hopefully things will begin looking up for you soon. While I recover from the nasty flu going around this year, I realize that I could use a week or two or three rightttttt here – the South of France somewhere, tucked away in a villa, with no social media, television or anyone reminding me all the worries in the world. Just for a week or two, that’s all

Universal New Year Resolution – A Healthier Lifestyle

I love this article, which offers up some easy ideas  to make what I call a universal New Year resolution/challenge if you will. I am excited since all the suggestions are totally doable. Except perhaps the cutting down on the sugar part – which I am working on finding ways to do just that. For that stay tuned. Otherwise, let do this thing together!

Mind Set – Vacation, vacation, vacation

The last month has been the most stressful. Well, since a few months back for me that is. It seems stress is all we have these days, worrying so much about the faith of our nation, our children’s safety, health, financial stability, and even all things reshaping our planet earth – all while trying to keep a positive front so not to be judged by anyone. Who are we kidding. Everyone is looking for an outlet – to escape the madness even if for a few minutes. Who knew all fantasized films made about doomsday and corruption is becoming more real every day. Sorry, if I’ve brought you down this Friday. But occasionally it’s important for me to stay real. Last night, I sat on my bed and breathed out – for that instance – I felt a sense of temporary relief. The kind of relief where my body was not as tense at it normally is –  because I realized in a few days I would be on vacation – even if it’s just for …

Lifestyle: Turning Fifty or Staying forty-something?

This topic  came to me a few weeks ago, when I got an email-invite for my cousin’s 50th birthday party that his wife decided to throw for him.  She sent me a text afterward  asking if we could make it considering the one hour drive to the venue. I immediately told her we would, thinking since they were one of the couples moving away, it would probably be the last time I see them for a while. Unless of course they came back to the city or I went down to Los Angeles with the sole intend to visit family – which I hate to admit – I am not good at. The visiting family part. Note to self here, I need to work on that. The moral of this blog post is that after I turned 30, I decided I would never have a birthday party again nor a celebration of it. Instead I would simply go away for a weekend or a few weeks somewhere far away and deal with getting older. Even …
