boutique hotel pick – relais and chateaux hotel heritage – bruges, belgium

It’s been a while since I’ve suggested a boutique hotel – a blog entry I’ve put aside for a while, focusing on other topics instead. But since I am an avid traveler, always longing to get on a plane to go somewhere, at times more or less on a whim, I decided to bring this popular entry back, even throughout the off-season in travel. The city of Bruges, in Belgium came to mind recently since I normally crave to be in a storybook type of place in the winter months, hibernating in a room with character, a fireplace if possible, hot tea at my disposal, the ambiance exuding enough energy to inspire me to write at the very least, the romance portion of my novels. In Bruges, I would stay in Relais and Chateaux Hotel Heritage, and although there isn’t a fireplace in the rooms, the character and charm of each space make it a wonderful destination for romance I could go on forever, detailing bits and pieces of information about this romantic town, but …

fashion: my style sweaters fall-winter 2014

I adore sweaters and sometimes that’s all you need to spruce up an outfit. In fact, most of the time that’s ALL I need. I’m, how shall I put it, fashionably simple, considering jeans as dress up for most anything. The good thing is, working in the techy world in San Francisco, jeans are welcomed, and being overdressed is not at all necessary. So, jeans always, a T-shirt or a blouse a must, and a sweater is all I need pretty much 7 days a week. Here are my favorites for now – notice the color trend 🙂 {Source}

travel: amazing world we live in

The wealth of knowledge about travel is endless, thanks even more now to the internet. I remember when I used to check out books and encyclopedia at the public library to learn about the world, the wonders and the exciting tidbits. Now everything is just a click away, one article leading to the next, delighting me to no end, educating and challenging my brain  – I love it. Here’s the latest interesting articles that got me going:

thank you lady gaga for the nostalgia

I have to admit, I am a fan. Been one for years, appreciating Lady Gaga in all her glory, admiring her voice to no end. Recently, if you were following the headlines, she’d teamed up with Tony Bennett and the two of them came up with an album, oldies to be exact and the results, I have to say are not so bad. In fact, it’s well worth the download. Here’s a sample just in case you feel as nostalgic as I do sometimes, craving oldies.

adding some positive in your life

This week’s been a little strange. It happens – to the best of us. September usually is strange in general for me. That’s why I often take a trip this month to hide in Europe for several weeks, until October to be exact, to return when the leaves have nearly turned color, and the crisp cool air in the early morning hours and evenings suggest the season change – calming me. This year however, I stayed put, not going anywhere late summer since I have much to do. And then I realized, it was better to go away just as I’d done for years. So, please stand by as I readjust and recalibrate my to do list and goals so that by the end of the year, I feel more happy that I have reached a few goals, then be sad, that I haven’t reached them all.

taking time to think about relationships

Everything in life we do requires a reassessment to see what can be improved, changed, fixed. We do this with our health, with our children, a home remodel and even with our finances. So why not about a relationship? There are times in life we all experience hard days, especially in relationships we’ve invested in for decades and want to see through it. So taking time to ponder, outweighing the good and the bad, figuring out how to make the right changes, the positive ones and the best for the both of you is important. So today I declare TAKING TIME TO THING ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP day.

something’s going on

Every year around this time – always nearing September – I feel a little uninspired, and overly emotional. I think it’s the impending season change. I rectified this problem  in recent years with a two-week trip to Europe  – the first part of September. Which helped in the transition of changing seasons and all. This year however, I won’t be doing that. Instead I am going to stay local, and take a very short trip down to Los Angeles to unwind and reflect – planning how 2015 would pan out. Yes, one may believe it’s too early but not for me. I have way too much to do next year, and need to plan. In the meantime, I try to stay a little distracted, by writing, working on my third novel, and by finding photos online to help me escape. This photo, although not my decor style, for some reason put a smile on my face. Perhaps because it reminded me of my aunt’s house in South of France – whimsical, light, airy and very …
