thank you san francisco giants – from the bottom of my heart

Never have I seen a game, or that I recall, played with such drive and determination, inspiring me to strive, going forward, even harder to achieve the kind of success I’ve longed for. The San Francisco Giants won the world series yesterday, and I know this might mean nothing to some of you, but it means a lot to me as a San Franciscan. Three trophies in five years, from a team, this year, not considered a top contender and even game seven predictions by some expert was for the Royals. I suppose rightfully so. The Royals played a tough game, driven just as well to win. But there was something about the Giants – the amazing team behind the brand whose drive lifted up my spirits, and until that last inning – game 7, bottom of ninth, I was on the edge of my seat when suddenly a fluke happened, and there was a possibility we would lose. But I kept my faith in my team, chanting from the comfort of my home LET“S …

thank you lady gaga for the nostalgia

I have to admit, I am a fan. Been one for years, appreciating Lady Gaga in all her glory, admiring her voice to no end. Recently, if you were following the headlines, she’d teamed up with Tony Bennett and the two of them came up with an album, oldies to be exact and the results, I have to say are not so bad. In fact, it’s well worth the download. Here’s a sample just in case you feel as nostalgic as I do sometimes, craving oldies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezfo5yF2Mhw

happy autumn 2014

For decades, I’ve only welcomed Summer. I suppose it had something to do with being young, and looking forward to not being in school. Then in later years, I considered Summer time the only time for vacations, loving the chaos of it all anywhere I traveled. In the last five years however, I’ve started to notice Fall, and decided to travel off season (being Fall) to avoid the crowds, the chaos, quickly realizing it’s the best time of the year to admire your surroundings while on holiday/vacation. At the same time, I’ve grown to appreciate Autumn in a different way, preferring the season even more now, the older I get. It’s a slower pace, a warm and glowy season, a time between brisk mornings and chilly nights, and bright sunny days – all bundled together enticing you. {Photo source}

adding some positive in your life

This week’s been a little strange. It happens – to the best of us. September usually is strange in general for me. That’s why I often take a trip this month to hide in Europe for several weeks, until October to be exact, to return when the leaves have nearly turned color, and the crisp cool air in the early morning hours and evenings suggest the season change – calming me. This year however, I stayed put, not going anywhere late summer since I have much to do. And then I realized, it was better to go away just as I’d done for years. So, please stand by as I readjust and recalibrate my to do list and goals so that by the end of the year, I feel more happy that I have reached a few goals, then be sad, that I haven’t reached them all.

taking time to think about relationships

Everything in life we do requires a reassessment to see what can be improved, changed, fixed. We do this with our health, with our children, a home remodel and even with our finances. So why not about a relationship? There are times in life we all experience hard days, especially in relationships we’ve invested in for decades and want to see through it. So taking time to ponder, outweighing the good and the bad, figuring out how to make the right changes, the positive ones and the best for the both of you is important. So today I declare TAKING TIME TO THING ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP day.

taking a day to remember 911

As I drove by Pepperdine University in Southern California yesterday on my way back home to San Francisco, I noticed flags, beautifully displayed on a field adjacent to Highway 1. At first glance I was in awe, amazed  mostly by the beautiful display. And just as I drove past the wonderful dedication, I realized it was there for remembering 911. I was deeply touched.

a treehouse: a writer’s paradise

For the past year or maybe less, I’ve been hooked on a television show called Treehouse Masters. At first I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to live in a tree house or escape to it. But the more I watched the more I realized this is really something I would do. Especially when I need to escape for hours to plot out my writings or simply just meditate. Well, as normal while I scrolled through the internet looking for articles to inspire me, I came across this one – about a uniquely beautiful treehouse and I had to share, simply having fallen in love with the set up and wishing I could build one of my own, with views of a lake or any water of some sort. {photo credit from here}

interior decor and design in whites and antique

You know when you buy an old house in San Francisco – Edwardian or a Victorian mostly – it is important to decorate the inside to bring out the true charm of the house. Modern seems to work here and there, but in old homes, the design and decor must compliment each room perfectly. Here’s what I would consider if I were lucky enough to overbid on such a property in one of the most expensive cities to live in.     {inspiration from here}

something’s going on

Every year around this time – always nearing September – I feel a little uninspired, and overly emotional. I think it’s the impending season change. I rectified this problem  in recent years with a two-week trip to Europe  – the first part of September. Which helped in the transition of changing seasons and all. This year however, I won’t be doing that. Instead I am going to stay local, and take a very short trip down to Los Angeles to unwind and reflect – planning how 2015 would pan out. Yes, one may believe it’s too early but not for me. I have way too much to do next year, and need to plan. In the meantime, I try to stay a little distracted, by writing, working on my third novel, and by finding photos online to help me escape. This photo, although not my decor style, for some reason put a smile on my face. Perhaps because it reminded me of my aunt’s house in South of France – whimsical, light, airy and very …
