What Constitutes Beauty, or Elegance and a Sense of Style?

As a girl in my teens, and later in my twenties, I have to say I was pretty self-conscious about the way I looked, and behaved, admiring mostly actors and models for their beauty, elegance and sense of style. Without realizing at the time, that sort of thing was mostly an image relayed through photography. The real beautiful or elegant women having a sense of style roamed the streets of Europe mostly. It’s in the last decade or so I realized that beauty truly comes from within. Because if you have a beautiful outlook on life, it will show it on your face and in the way you carry yourself. Elegance and sense of style is easily learned, and managed I feel, and most any body interested in betting themselves, can obtain such stature. So, here’s a game I play with friends, sometimes over dinner or a walk in the park. The question we pose to one another is what do you think about this or that person  in fashion, certain  sophistication or sexy simplicity …

Friday Reads Online – Why? Because We Need A Break

Too much news can be daunting. And while I wind down Thursday evening, looking forward to the much-needed weekend away from the usual, I have considered these fun articles to set the mood: Have a great weekend everybody, while I take a few days away from all computers. Not because I want to, but because I forgot to take my plug with me to the country where I am spending a few days – I thought to be able to write.

travel: venice canals in venice california

When I travel to anywhere, I am always looking for the unusual to see. Something that would mostly impress and inspire me to develop a storyline. So, as you can tell exploring the Venice Canals in Venice, California is a must. I’m not going to get into the story behind the story, you can click here to read about it. But I am going to say, that please don’t compare the canals to the ones in Venice Italy. Instead stroll along the area early morning hours, before the heat, and take in the peacefulness of the experience.

a uniquely secret garden in california

The Summer months are the toughest time for me to stay inspired, since the weather is not the best in San Francisco to uplift my spirits. I stay indoors a lot and often spend countless hours daydreaming of places to visit with sun and warm weather, restlessly needing to get away. Of course having been a travel agent at one point in my career, adds to my distress since I find myself searching online, while bundled up in sweat pants and a sweater, information about travel. One particular story caught my attention recently, enlightening me naturally since I had no idea it existed. But apparently there is a secret garden worth seeing nestled in Fresno, California, a place most of us locals don’t consider a vacation spot. It’s called Forestiere Gardens. Please click here to read the article and see photo credits. I think I just added Fresno to my list of things to do in California.

fun fact tuesday: gents in a suit

Love the casual wear concept in the city (being San Francisco for those who aren’t familiar with the true name locals refer to San Francisco).  Anyway, casual wear makes for a comfortable work day, somehow psychologically allowing you to work longer than your normal 8-5. Hmmm no wonder so many companies here have adapted to the idea. But, once in a while I’d love to see a man in a suit, walking about downtown, mostly of course in the financial district, dressed pristine. 🙂
