Sometimes we just need to let the pictures do the talking – especially in fashion – Marchesa Spring 2019
Living in a techy city like San Francisco, the best approach to fashion is to fit in. Meaning to say that SOMA (south of Market) the dress code is more comfortable and functional. Which I completely appreciate after years of my corporate ensemble while employed in the financial district. So, shopping for these transitional weekday work wear to weekend hangouts is the most fun I have, especially online.
I walked into a Ted Baker store in London in May and immediately fell impressed with the clothing line and since then, I’ve ordered this and that from their U.S. online shop. But now, I am considering a few of their Fall/Winter fashion. I get it, you might be thinking it’s too soon to think about anything past back to school and the Long (Labor Day) Weekend (US) – but planning ahead is always a good idea and sometimes even fun when shopping is involved:
Millennial and the color pink go hand in hand according to everyone – but I have to admit that I have always appreciated the color in the classic, pastel shade or those bearing a rosy hue, or a soft peach blend. Pink is classic, timeless, and women of all ages should own at least one thing pink-ish. If not in decor, or fashion (clothing) then for sure lipstick. Since we don’t really have a proper summer in San Francisco, it is very easy for the locals to shop for coats over the season and even wear them in the middle of October. Just this morning, two women were bundled up with gloves on and hoods tightly framing their faces. I get it, but I try to fight the urge to cloak myself just as well. So for the urge to wear a coat or simply shop for one – I have to say these are currently on my radar:
Someone asked me once, why my fascination with bridal gowns, and my answer was that I see past the white and think what wonderful pre-season options these gowns would be for a special gala event or the red carpet.
A few days ago, I pulled out an old black and white patterned dress from the back of my closet – and aimed to wear it to a party in chilly San Francisco. Being a city girl, I normally opt for a simple black cardigan when I put on a dress, but that day I decided to dress it up to a season appropriate color, salmon and then two days later – since the dress is my favorite – I chose a sort of mulled wine tone and I couldn’t be happier. I know this concept isn’t a new idea, or one I discovered but I thought I might share it just in case you have an amazing ensemble hanging in your closet, that could use a refreshed look with cardigans
